I think some people create drama without realizing they're doing it. I have a guy friend who calls me and almost each time he starts off with "Are you sitting down? You need to hear this..." It's always about some client who's overdosed, went to jail, died, etc. Not usually good news but this makes me glad I don't work there anymore and I'm not the person having to call 911 each time.
It's his quirky style of communication and that's one of the things I love about him. On the same token, I phoned him blubbering like a baby last week and crying is something I usually try to stifle. It got to the point where I just lost it and without his sympathetic ear, I don't know what I would have done.
Drama doesn't bother me too much if it's genuine, I know that's probably the wrong way to put it. But I know certain people who consistently exaggerate a lousy situation over and over again. When that conversation begins, I know where it's going and want to gouge my eyes out. Emotional vampires that just suck my energy and leave me exhausted.
