if you're trying to find sould in dance music, you probably won't find it at a $76 event with 50,000 people.. that's just mainstream commercial shit.. the stuff that engages at an intellectual level is out there, it just doesn't bring people out in those numbers..

oh, and my guess is that the crowd was chanting "PVD!" as paul van dyk's name is often shortened to that acronym.

For Those Who Went to Ultra...

WOW!!!!! Wasn't that a fuckin unbelievable event!!! 10x's better than Ultra 5! Tiesto and PvD knocked out the audience with their KILLER sets. Unfortunately I missed Sasha and Digweed....AGAIN! But I'll see them at Ultra 7. Anyway I have a few ?'s for those of you who went....

# 1 - Which sets did you get to see???

# 2 - What was ur higlight of the night?

# 3 - Lowest point of the night?

# 4 - My friends and I split up at one point near the end (or semi-end) of the show...she can't figure out what stage she was at and she fell in love with the DJ who was spinning at that stage. I'll describe to you where the stage was....lets say you are standing at the GIGANTIC fountain (your back would be facing the Gay Pride area and your front would be facing the Big stage that's probably the 2nd biggest stage they had set up (the one that was against the fence touching Biscyane Blvd)...if you walk up to that stage and then walk to your left you run into another stage that's kinda set up on a hill area....WHAT STAGE WAS THAT????????

at the end of the event they were chanting PVD.. as in paul van dyk.. I spent $35 and had a blast.. think it's all about the people you party with :>

They weren't chanting PVD, they were chanting DVD, because minutes earlier the announcer was just talking about how we're all on camera and they're gonna sell the frickin DVD.

Maybe it was PVD ok ,but it's crass nonetheless.

Who cares what they were chanting..........They still want to make more money off of you!

Ultra 2005 = Tickets + DVD = $80
Vip = $300

Still a rip off!!!

Sasha & Digweed, Josh Wink, Max Graham, Donald Glaude, Plastikman, Oscar G = Gods

Rabbit in the Moon = The Devil

This was the first time saw their live performance and I thought I was going insane. They're just plain SICK...

It was the Break Beat stage and Icey spun a shitty set. RITM was fucking amazing as usual, along with Tiesto, PVD, Uberzone and Electric sky church.

And I agree this was the most amazing ULTRA ever. I can't believe how much fun I had. =D =D =D =D

I have to agree, the last ultra was to commercialized. This was the first one i've missed, but I couldn't see my self paying that much to go to a party unless it comes with a BJ. You cant compare the first 2 to any of these. The beach was the shit.

oye! Just when you thought it would end ;)

I had a blast at this party, not neccessarily due to the music, because i spent most of the time just wondering around talking to/laughing at various people. The sets I heard were alright, but the dnb stage blew out their speakers like 20 times, which sucked. However, adam F and craze were absolutley amazing, they spun at the end of the night and gave mer all my energy back.

To all the Fl Blers I met, you guys are awesome and I thank you for your hospitality towards me and my friend, we felt quite welcome. You are more than welcome to my part of the globe anytime.

but look at him....he LOVES it.

Yeah, Ultra was amazing. I finnally got to see Rabbit live, and I even got two hugs from bunny when he dived off the stage. It was awsome meeting all you BL'ers too. Good Times.

(but look at him....he LOVES it.) Funny shit lololol.

# 1 - Which sets did you get to see???
Ferry Corsten, Rabbit in the Moon, Tiesto. Wandered from set to set every once in a while, but mostly remained camped in the Jungle/DnB area because, for some odd reason, I was vibing that area more than the others. :\

# 2 - What was ur highlight of the night?
Ferry Corsten's set. 8o Absolutely mindblowing. 8o I've always wanted to catch this guy and he did not disappoint. I need track IDs to his last 3 songs, actually.

# 3 - Lowest point of the night?
My brother and I getting harassed nonstop by undercover cops looking to score drugs. C'mon guys, you're completely sober and you're using bullshit slang I never heard of and sketchy ass stories. What the fuck even gave you the impression we had anything on us anyway? Does Miami PD honestly expect us to be that fucking gullible? 8)

To Tripps, Tathra, Daz, Maui, and all the other BLers I met and chilled with, it was a pleasure to hang with you guys. I'm sorry I cut out on you guys kinda abruptly that night, but I could leave my family and hometown crew high and dry. I hope to see you all again next year. :D

did anyone catch 2 many djs set at ultra? that would have been the main reason why id go down to florida for that. i know theyre also playing at coachella. they need to come to the northeast!!!!

TOP NOTCH

damn, I'm finally back from my WMC & Ultra trip
My ULTRA experience was TOP NOTCH. I won’t go into so much detail about this event and my personally great experience, but I’ll say it was one of the best events of my partying life. This year’s collection of dj talent, live sets, the venue & stage setups, visuals, fireworks, vibe & THE PEOPLE were all on-point thoughout the entire day in my opinion. Thats the feeling/vibe & impression that I got from this event & everything thats why I enjoyed it so much.
First are my shouts-outs to the few blers: bostonpartygirl & the whole NE crew I met. Damn-it I want to call you all out individually and give my personal shoutouts from meeting each of you, but I don’t want to forget anyone so to all I met (and offcourse that met me) WHAT UP PEOPLE, thanks for help making my 2nd Ultra much fun. And sorry I didn’t make any of the scheduled meetup, lost track of time and was having too much damn fun dancing to leave the spot I was rockin anyway. OVERALL I enjoyed everyone I met, from blers to the many Fl. people who were mad kewl to socialize with.
Sorry to all the people that contacted me, I was trying to meetup with everyone, but ooh so little time in all our partying lives. Next time for sure, I mean theres ALLOT of partying left in all of us til the day we lay to rest.
A small list of the dj talent that pop into my mind that completely destroyed me: Josh Wink, Junior Vasquez, PVD, Tiesto, Adam Freeland, Electric SkyChurch, Erik Morillo, RITM, Fabio, Dieselboy, Craze, Sister Bliss, and many more etc. And OMG dj Fabio’s set was the darkest, hardest, ruffest & sickest DnB set I heard that night. WOW I was seriously loving it.
The dj sets whom I expected to see and to destroy me but had weak sets were: dj Rap, Icey and others
All the areas were hot though. I loved the fireworks. Got great pics of the fireworks, the crowd shot over at the main Ultra stage, the RITM performance, and overall the beautiful people that made up the Ultra partying people.
I didn’t see any breakers or breaker crews there and especially around the Fl. Tent and I was hoping to get-in as well as check-out some flavor. Miami I know has allot of good breakers crews, just wish I saw some there.
Celebrities I saw: Puff Daddy back in the REAL VIP area and in the all access building. I was literally chilling some 12ft. and 2 bodyguards between me and Puff Daddy, but it was kewl. My memory got a picture of him eventhough my camera couldn’t because his bodyguards were purposing blocking anyone from taking pics of him. I also saw iio (girl who sang that great song “Rapture”). I saw Suszhin(sp?) Pak from MTV interviewing people, and yeah Tommy Lee & Boy George were both there. And both of their sets I thought were wack.
My only complaint for that event is regarding the DnB stage: I wish they would set-it-up on a hard surface so people can rock-out properly to it, as well as giving a damn decent sound system.
And this event ended promply at 1am and I mean all stages ended simutaneously at 1am. No time for a encore, but thats OK though, it was still fun.
And I hope people notice that there were 2 types of VIP passes. I hope the people that purchased VIP straps know that they got ripped off. Because their ticket only allowed them into 1 of the 3 VIP areasand that was the general VIP area, while the 2nd type VIP straps which were exclusive straps & laminates was to ALL 3 areas including the VIP free food area and hte all access building.

The Mardi Gras afterparty @ Sax on the Beach that we went to was fun. People were goofy in there. It was extremely funny when this one kid tried breakin in the circle me & friends had opened and he bumped the dj table and fucked everything up, hahhaha. Other then that it was a good chill afterparty. I wished I had gone to Global Gathering though to hear Dilated Peoples and others, but it was really too costly especially after Ultra.
ANd all the South Beach parties (both free & cover charge) were fun. I went to LAID @ the Leslie Hotel, another @ the Chandler hotel, and others. Me and my friends had much fun this past couple days in Miami. I can't wait to do it again next year if its going to be this good and especially with the great weather that made up this great wknd. also.

My ULTRA experience didn't go according to planned. After a loong 5 days in the Caribbean and getting off in Miami I had enough time to drive to Broward where I live, get changed, and head back to Miami. The girlfriend and I had enough of each other after being stuck on a ship for a week. We got into a fight, and now I'm stuck with an extra Ultra ticket and party favors.

So I call one of my friends and he had an all expense paid trip to ULTRA for free which included, tickets, parking, party favors and an extra pack of Newports...lol - Every year I end up taking someone..

So we headed to Ultra and made it in around 3:00pm. Chilled at the Main stage until 6:00 and blazed with some people we didn't know. Blunts were being passed from every direction.

After I walked around for a while we ran into a couple of friends (DJ Frost and Freeze) and chilled with them. I hung out at the Breaks tent pretty much all night. Met Jackyl and Hyde (thanks for the free beer!) and also met Simply Jeff. Also chilled with Uberzone for a while. Both of those guys are some of the nicest people you'll meet - very down to earth. Actually at one point I freaked out, thats what happens when your smokin blunts for 4 hours and go out to a crowd and realize there's 50,000 people everywhere. Man that place was packed. I swear someone passed me some laced shit cause I was mad bugged out for a while. I chilled until about 12:30 and went back to my house to chill with some females we met.

Sugafist, sorry abot not meeting up. With all the crazyness of geting of the boat, me and my girlfriend fighting, and m cell phone being broke the only hope of chilling I had was running into you. I wish we could have chilled and my biggest regret was not taking your phone number with me and calling you on a buddys phone.

Oh well, I guess theres always next year. But Ultra was off the hook this year, one of the best times I had.

no stress man, its all good. You and your girl are forever the first people I'll call when next I come down to Miami to party. Hope you 2 are doing better since after your cruise trip. I'll also email you some of my party pics (as soon as they're developed) so you get to see me & my crazy friends acting up and enjoying ourselves.

That Ultra experience didn't go nearly how I had planned it. Around 7:30 in the morning, still about 2 hours away, the driver of my car fell asleep, and unfortunately so was the other guy in the front seat. He hit the rumble strips, woke up, and yanked the wheel. That in turn caused the Explorer to flip 6 times before hitting a tree. So if you were on the Turnpike at that time and you got stopped for a good 45 minutes, that was because of us as they brought the helicopter in.

Of the three people in the car, one was just fine, I was in the hospital for three days and have no memory of the first two, and the driver is still in. Hopefully he'll be out by next Wednesday after his third surgery is finished.

So there you have it...at least nobody was hurt worse. So take that as a heads up for anybody out there that still has a long ride ahead of them. Whoever is in the front seat needs to stay awake.

Oh well, it's only another year until this goes down again.

:(

Goddamn Moonshaddow.... :(

I'm glad you and your friends are okay though. We don't need another name added to the Bluelight Shrine anytime soon.

*hug*
