A little bit closer :D WOO, I just got an email from hallucination and rabbit will be performing live too. (<first time ever seeing them live) The suspense is killin me :D

Just got down to Ft Lauderdale... I have a hotel reserved for saturday and sunday... I'll be visiting these boards alot up until the event... Looking forward to seeeing some of you there...

aight so the Ultra express from MD is leaving in an hour so I'm heading out to meet my peoples for the drive down. I can't wait.
NE crew, I can't wait to see you all again and see you all down there. We're going to bring our style down there for some great fun. "special shout-out to brooklyn who will be down there, this girl is a wicked dancer"
I don't know when next I'll be able to check this site, but I'll try for the meetup (3 & 6 right), but I doubt it because I'll be spending majority of the time dancing & shit and checking out ALL the different areas & people dancing & getting down. If the other blers I will be partying with point me to the right spot then I'll make the meetup and I want to meet ALLOT of you party people. But for anyone wanting to meetup also DEFINITELY hit me up on AIM on my cell phone. It will be on the entire time I'm down there starting now: its sugafistAC
and I'll be sporting a bright-ass pair of Caffeine widelegs with a bright-ass blue fitted shirt and/or a sweater vest. BASICALLY I'll be looking sexy, hahahahaha =D
but like I said, I'll be doing my damn thing on the dancefloor the entire time. Come-up, dance & battle with me, I love checking out everyone's individual's styles. get my attention with your dance style, I love it :)

ooh also I'll have on my Moonshine laminate so thats another way to spot me. Yeah unfortunately I have to work for the label & the next months magazine monthly (interviewing people & djs), but I'll try to do my scheduled task in good time to enjoy myself & meetup & social and do the whole damn partying thing

aight so everyone be safe, have fun & definitely party HARDCORE, and especially DON"T FORGET YOUR FREAKEN CAMERA (ya know who ya are) =D for the memories

PARTY UP

Oh yeah, I can almost smell it. 8o I keep finding out more and more random people are going to be heading down for this. I hope I can fit in some time for them between sets.

Yet again I'm going to try to make at least one meetup, but we'll see how that works out considering past history. If you see some kid in army green UFOs, a black shirt, and a blue bandana wandering around come meetup time, that'll be me so yell or something. Yell lots because I tend to be pretty oblivious to my environment. Otherwise look for me on the dance floor; I'll be the one spastically bouncing around in as much space as is available.

Does anybody know camera rules this year? I want to bring a digital camera in, but last year they didn't let a few of my friends in with them because of the video function. It was kind of a randomly applied rule though because other people got through just fine.

OkieOkieOkie.. I am not sure what I'm doing yet... I might not know until I do it.. If at all possible I will be in town Friday night.. probably hitting up the CoolJunkie party at Nikki Beach Club.. so here's to finding a place to crash Friday night! :) If you don't hear from me ... I'm in Miami!

Just wheeled into G'ville. Bro, friends, and I are getting the last of our shit together. Tonight, I'll be rolling into Miami (no pun intended). See you guys tomorrow. :D

hey man...who are the chi-town djs that are gonna be down there?

Bad Boy Bill(DUH), Felix the Housecat (DUH again!!), Derrick Carter, Roy Davis Jr, Gene Ferris, Paul Johnson (Yes, believe it or not he IS playing at 1 party in Miami.....and it's not at Ultra), Alex Peace, Josh the Funky1, Phantom 45, Danny The WildChild, CZR(He is also playing at 1 party that is not Ultra!)

Most of the Chicago DJ's that I mentioned are NOT DJ'ing Ultra, but they are playing at some of the local area clubs.

My advice to you, depending on who you would like to see is to pick up a local miami City Paper.
They have all the info you need! %)

I didn't dig Ultra...

This was my first time going this year.

Call me cynical, but I didn't get into it much. Part of that could have been that I arrived at 11 PM and the show ended on a dime, without hesitation at 1 AM as scheduled.

Or maybe it was the $76 cover I had to pay.

Maybe it was because I was sober.

I try to get into dance music, but I just can't seem to do it. It rings hollow to me. There's nothing behind it, the best music can engage on an intellectual level, and I don't see that happening with dance music.

It's like these musicians and promoters are pandering to the drug subculture to hawk their goods.

One thing positive I can say, it's loud and I dig the energy.

Case in point: I couldn't help but take notice of all the cameras everywhere, the crane in front of the stage, the guy with the steadicam walking around the DJ table, the other camera guys, filming the event for pay-per-view and video release.

At the very end of Paul Van Dyk's set, the end of the show, the announcer started chanting, D!V!D!, D!V!D!...

Then the crowd started roaring, D!V!D! D!V!D! It's all so crass and cynical. My $76 isn't enough? Now they're going to sell me a DVD. Sheesh.

They made so much jack off this event it's not even funny. 50,000 heads? I wouldn't doubt it.

I ran into a camera crew carting around a Sony CineAlta on a golf cart and tried to talk to them a little.

I wandered into the tent where Josh Wink and Donald Glaude were spinning... I just can't seem to get into the music. It's all so monotonous and plodding. I know a DJ can get idiosyncratic and change up the beats, but what do I need to do to really appreciate this stuff??

Hope everyone had mucho fun yesterday. I was at work dealing with a shit hole computer system that wouldn't work and getting yelled at for things that I had absolutely no control over.
I miss everyone that's down there that I was so so so hoping to see. I send my love and best recovery wishes to those of you still sleeping this morning.
<3,
