Metro Police said rapper Wiz Khalifa was cited for misdemeanor marijuana possession in Nashville on Saturday after investigators were called to his hotel room at the Holiday Inn on West End Avenue at about 8 p.m.

Wiz Khalifa, whose real name is Cameron Thomaz, 24, was in town to perform at Vanderbilt University's Rites of Spring concert, where he was the headliner.

Police said the front desk staff at the hotel called police and reported that they'd received several complaints about marijuana use in room 725, where the rapper was staying.

The front desk staff told investigators that they'd been up to the room and told the rapper and another man, Lonnie Howard, 27, about the complaints, police said.

Once officers arrived and went up to the seventh floor of the hotel, they smelled marijuana, knocked on the door to the room and when the door was opened, they saw the rapper throw a marijuana blunt out the window, police said.

When asked if there was any more marijuana in the room, both Thomaz and Howard said there wasn't, but police later found more marijuana on Howard, police said.

Both suspects later admitted to having the marijuana and were cited for the misdemeanor possession, police said.

They have until May 14 to show up at the Davidson County courthouse for booking on the charges.

According to Thomaz's Twitter account, he left Nashville on Sunday and has been in New York this week.

naskville is pretty progressive for a southern city if they have citations as punishment for MJ possession

they passed something like that in TX but the cops dont care, its not mandatory citation they just have the options of giving you a ticket and most of the time they dont, dallas PD arrested me and put me in lew sterrit for 2 days cuz of 3 grams, shits ridiculous

I love nashville. Its where I'm from. The city is really progressive for a southern city. I don't really listen to Wiz Khalifa but I figure that he shouldn't think his celebrity status will allow him to circumvent the hotel's wishes.

^Totally, I mean the article says that the hotel staff was nice enough to go up there and tell them about the complaints. You would think that they would of just called the cops in the first place. If I was still smoking marijuana in a room after the hotel staff had told me not to, you could bet I would be ready to flush the shit. Hypothetically of course.

What I don't understand is the obsession with people that other people obsess about. Yeah I hear him on the radio without minding and I wouldn't listen to his songs otherwise, but why do people care about his personal life? Couldn't you equate that to stalking?

no i dont think so, cus he's a celebrity so theres always going to be a blur when it comes to the lines between public and private life. same shit just happened to snoop dogg in norway. but i feel bad for snoop cus hes the man. i could care less about wiz khalifa. point is, both of them have more than enough money to pay a small ass misdemeanor charge
