A 1200mg a month hydrocodone habit is nothing.
You don't even know what physical opiate withdrawals are.
You're really only dealing with psychological symptoms. Although, yes, this can be incredibly frustrating.
In this case, it's really more of a mind over matter thing than anything. You're withdrawals probably seem a lot worse because you believe they are going to be bad. You're going to have to convince yourself otherwise.

just for the record i uese my pills for pain for a car accident its not a habit this will be the second time in 2yrs i have run short so im not going to get in a pissing match that i don't know what with drawl is the fact that i can't eat sleep and have diarria for 3 to 5 days is very real. i just wanted to know if weening off is the way to go i don't buy drugs off the street so thats not an option for me thanks guys please reply

Ah.. 2 years. I read your post really quick and saw it as you'd only been doing it for a month. My bad.
Anyways.. there's just OTC pain stuff, Klonopin, Ultram/tramadol and that's about it. You more or less have to deal with it, unfortunantly. There's not a lot you can do.
I think since you're prescribed this medication that it would probably be a good idea to consult your doctor and tell him you're having withdrawal symptoms and would like something to ease them. Or if you don't want to tell him you're withdrawaling for whatever reason, make up a story about not being able to sleep or stress. Then you might be able to work out getting a benzo and/or some sleeping pills which will help.

If you want to continue getting legit pain meds, DO NOT tell him you're having withdrawl. If you wish to fix the problem, however, tell him your symptoms. Ask for something to help, such as Kolonipin or Xanax. But seriously, 40mg hydrocodone isn't much of anything when it comes to opiate withdrawl. If you had a *problem* you'd no doubt be using double that (at least) per day. Your best bet is to ask your doc to ween you off the Hydro's with Temgesic and Xanax. If you don't have the withdrawl induced anxiety, and only have trouble sleeping then try something like Halcion or Valium.

Pain Mgmnt could do a good job of getting you moved to something like OxyContin or a longer acting med - this should have been done a long time ago egardless of WHO was prescribing it = drocodone a day? Over a gram APAP each day? Of course pain mgmnt could also be the docor that gets you OFF the fun stuff too..

how many substances are you addicted to anyway....i read a thread where you claimed addiction to soma too...
I agree with Phreex though on this subject....if you have chronic pain then why the FUCK haven't you tried for your right as a citizen to obtain oxycontin???? What a shame im not in your posistion....you have no idea what you're missing out on!

living in florida and tha county i live in its way to hard to find a doctor willing to put someone on oxycontin i've done them before know big deal i appriate everyones advise this are the meds im on lorcet 10mg soma 350mg 4 a ay xanax 1mg 3 times aday for 3years valium ,5 mg 3 times a day so benzo don't do shit to me neither do the opiates for that matter i.ve started weening myself off so i'll have something to take everydat till the 1st. i have one of those dr's that are like your friend i go in bullshit with him for i min. get my scripts and leave. i' have already talked to him about oxy's i wouldn't want to be on then as addictive and expensive as they are. i use my meds responsible but you know how it is if you have a bad dau its easy to take a extra pill here and there. thanks guys

Ok, then it's time for a "second opinion" dude... if you're willing to drive to Cocoa or Orlando then I could point you to any one of about 15 doctors that would have you on OxyContin so fast your head would spin.. any doctor worth his weight in SALT would realize that 40mg hydrocodone *IR* is a greater risk then OxyContin presents - well, since you would most likely chop up and snort yer OxyContin you're actually better on the hydrocodone, however, if you have a physical condition that warrants such high amounts of pain killers (and if you have a doctor that is afraid of OxyContin but lets you have that much hydrocodone I assume you have a VERY REAL physical condition) most any decent doctor would WANT to get you on an extended release medication ...
What part of Florida do you live in? How old are you? What physical condition do you have that has warranted so much hydrocodone? What NON-DRUG treetment(s) have you had thus far? Are you getting yer dope from a regular doctor or a pain specialist? Is the doctor that gives you the hydrocodone the same doctor that gives you ALL THAT OTHER SHIT YOU TAKE?
I can't believe one doctor has you taking all that shit .. 3mg Xanax a day? 40mg Hydrocodone a day? 15mg Valium? Your doctor is a keeper, but you might run into a problem if you went to a pain specialist (or differnt doctor) as your current doctor (if it's one person that gives you *all* your current meds) could either be a less-then-worthy guy or else your new doctors just read your charts and see this guy has you on all that stuff each day so the rest of his diagnoses are thrown out the window...
Just for shits and giggles, yer doctors lastname isn't Wang or Wrigly is it? hehehehe

Benzo's are your best bet to deal with whatever withdrawl symptoms you may encounter. As for your doctor, I'd stick with him. He gives you a lot of pretty good shit. A pain managment clinic might fuck that up for you like Phreex said. Stick with Dr. Feelgood he's a keeper...
BRING BACK THE FLAG!!!
