Hi, I'm thinking about to withdrawl from oxycontin. I used to take for about a month or 2 oral tab 80mg. I took about 480 to 550mg per day.

How long do you think i'd go through withdrawl if cold turkey ?
You got any recommendation, I also have some benzo to help and sleep pils but I already have a really hard time to fall asleep.

And got severe anxiety problems. Im afraid if I stop it i'd go on another chem. or switch to alcool which is worse for me.
also I'm depressed treated with remeron ( mirtazapine )

many thx

nb: dont want to take methadone or buperenorphine

Depending how dependent you've become, you'll probably have a week of terrible symptoms followed by a couple of weeks of milder symptoms as they begin to wear off. If you can get through the first week you'll be fine.

I'd recommend getting rid of ALL the opiates you have in your house, else you'll be taking them as soon as it starts getting bad. You might want to go to your doctor and get some extra benzos and raise your dose - just to get you to sleep, else you'll be awake for days and it'll drive you insane. It's easier to get rid of benzo dependence then opiate dependence, so I wouldn't worry about that.

Otherwise just take it easy, try and distract yourself by watching tv, playing video games, etc. Maybe take ibuprofene to take the edge of the aching you'll feel. Just remember that it won't last forever, it's easy to feel that it'll never end - but it will.

Edit: Picking up some melotonin from a pharmacy might help you get to sleep as well - just take 10-20mg 15 minutes before you go to bed and it should help knock you out.

ok thx for the advice. the worst part of me is the insomnia. I already did an H. withdrawl and I wasn't sleeping for about 2-3 weeks... I was fucking insane at that time but I pretty well recovered. Also had a serious benzo addiction to dormicum because they didn't really help to get ride of my anxiety even at astronomic dosage. But im pretty sure i'll try. Not sure if it's gonna work and the idea of having no escape with getting ride of all my pills is a crazy idea.. but I know I need to do it. I'll probably be in an insanity state for a week, because im already seriously brain damaged :S

Start tapering down now, take the minimum to just get through the day, and see if you can get down to 60mgs of oxy a day. Once you're there, then switch to hydrocodone and while you're feeling good (make your work, your job, your project, your responsibility to yourself) to look up tapering schedules while you're feeling good. I'm on a taper myself right now. I'm down to 25mg's of oxy a day everyone, down now from 280 a day, it has taken me a month to get here and I have a few more weeks. It has not been difficult at all, I have to say. I had a good friend that helped me and put me on a taper schedule, I had confidence in my friend (who is an MD) and I stuck with my taper shedule and just went about my business. Just don't make the drugs the main focal point of your day and keep busy with other things.

I Will probably get to 5mg a day but I just switched to hydrocodone at 60mg per day because getting off oxy completely might not be possible. Try to see what the minimum you can take is in a day and get some Xanax to take to relax you about 1/2 hour before you to go bed. Then you'll be slowing down, then pop 50mg of Trazadone which will knock you out and it's also an antidepressant, so after about a week of taking it, you'll start feeling better once the Trazadone gets into you system. Once you're off the hydrocodone, then start tapering off the xanax, which you should only take a night to get to sleep. Don't start taking Xanax during the day, else it will just be one more thing to have to get off of. I plan on taking the Trazadone that I got from my doctor to get to sleep for a long time, until I'm finally calmed down, which I dont' see happening for a few more months.. I've just got way too much stress, admittedly and can't sleep so this is where the drugs problem all started.

I would add that, "DON'T EVER" try to take just a little more once you stop the taper, not even 5mg's more, or you'll just fuck your taper up.

many thanks for your reply.

My minimum intake now can be 1 or 2 80mg / day. With 80mg, but im feeling a little sweaty and functioning at 80% and it's harder to fall asleep. 2 is my dose to keep myself functioning at 100%, normal without feeling nauseaous and I can still perfectly focus for work. But I had thsese days a few bings, on which I just take about 450mg IR just to nod. It must be not that hard for me to stop that.

Trazadone is a good idea I had 200mg trittico on the past and it would make me very tired but at the time I didnt slept I was really insomniac, so it was useless because I was tired and couldnt do anything even sleep. Now my sleep is a little bit better with remeron, but I wonder if taking 2 AntiDepressant at the time is a good idea. Anyway probably better that the actual intake.

I also take 2 Zopiclone at bettime because Zolpidem make me hallucinate and feeling wired. I hope the insomnia won't take too much time. Because it's really madness when I have period of time with insomnia.
again thx for ur help. I'll do my best.

Definately preferable to try tapering as much as you can before jumping off cold turkey. Then basically all you can do is benzos, sleep aids, and all the typical otc stuff to treat symptoms. Worst part will be the first week by end of week 2 you should be pretty normal.
