Withdrawl from Dilaudid 8mg 4x per day & Ativan 3x day @ 1 week from last dose....

Hi... I am one week exact from my last dose of Dilaudid. I will say that I am feeling much better as far as nausea, diarrhea, pain, very slight reduction in anxiety, sweats and last night was my first night to sleep all night peacefully and slept until 9:45AM "wonderful blessing". I am struggling with my head spinning feeling and some anxiety on and off. Has anyone went through this? If so, when does the mental anxiety and especially the "room spinning" go away??? I would love to know! I am a recovering addict with 4 years and 6 months clean with the exception of my prescribed medicine and it is because I am a "Cancer fighter" so it has been needed and I have Fibromyalgia due to Cancer treatment, I also have a crushed Sciatic Nerve in my back, I have 15 "Fifteen" herniated bulging disc in my back, 54 degree curve in my spine "Scoliosis" S-Shaped Spine, I have bone spurs in my Spine and bottom of feet, I have arthritis in my Spinal Cord, Knees, Hands, Feet from the treatment and I suffer severe bone pain due to all the treatment aftermath. I took my prescriptions as prescribed and never ran out early. My teenagers so called friend which we know now is not, anyway, he stole my entire locked box out my purse (I will never do again! It is nothing but advertisement that you are protecting something valuable!) I am also on Ativan for my nerves due to single mom with delinquent teenager, cancer battle, Advanced Stage 3, Triple Negative Breast Cancer, Lymph nodes positive for cancer 9+ nodes. My addiction, I was a "poly" addict to methamphetamine, cocaine, crack, you name it.. I used for 4 years beginning with a divorce at 32. I used until 36 and admitted myself into rehab and it was very successful and I have been drug free for 4 years and 6 months the 25th of this month! YAAY! I was a functional addict keeping a Property Management job and taking care of my family. I went for help myself when I felt I could not function any longer. I just wanted to share with everyone a little of what I have going on physically and mentally... I am not seeking to be judged please. I admitted myself to rehab and am clean with the exception of needed medication due to severe medical needs such as the cancer. I stress that I took as prescribed I did NOT snort the pills nor did I inject them. I orally took 1 every 6 hours daily. I am seeking to know how long this room spinning situation will last. It is as if the room is spinning around me with on and off anxiety. I can not drive it is so severe. I seeking to know because my son has an upcoming court date I will need to drive to in addition to needing to go get groceries. I do NOT have anyone to help me. I moved out of state from my family in friends in an attempt to go to a National Cancer Center in Florida. So, I everything with no help to take care of my children.... I did NOT go to my doctor because she specifically has you sign a bunch of forms when you go to her and one stated she can NOT re-write prescriptions due to DEA being so strict due to the abuse problem in the Country. My doctor is NOT a Pain Doctor she is a Specialist in Internal Medicine with additional College Degrees in Medicine. So, I am having to tough it out. As far as my cancer they are not sure if the treatment got it all especially due to it having reached my lymph nodes. I recently found a lump and the scans show 2 NEW lumps , one of the lumps is appearing to be "suspicious". I had to cancel my follow up appointment due to vomiting etc and not being able to drive due to this withdrawal situation. If you can give any advice it is appreciated. Natural treatment advice is welcomed, anything that will help! Thank you all so much for you kindness in advance. Have a wonderful weekend

You're probably through the opiate withdrawals. Likely what you are experiencing is the withdrawal from Ativan. Benzo withdrawals are VERY dangerous and can last months. They can cause seizure or, in extreme cases, even death. I REALLY think you NEED to call your doctor. Maybe they can get you a script for another benzo to hold you over at least. You also NEED to file a police report for your stolen pills. Hope this was helpful. Good luck, and keep us posted.

Thank you so much twotoomany and fyi I love your name you picked =D yeah that is exactly what I was thinking but was wanting to reach out for other advice. I really appreciate it. I found some Lyrica that I have. I was given that to help with the Fibro and aftermath of shingles that I suffer from. I have gotten shingles 8 times in the last 3 years since treatment has my immune so weak. The shingles is NO joke. Very painful. I think the Lyrica is definitely knocking the edge off. I found it this morning. Do you know anything about Lyrica?

Ho, she's not doing it by choice. Meds got stolen.

Single,

I don't know much about lyrica, but I have read it can help with benzo withdrawal. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will be along shortly to help.

Ps...glad ya like the name. I have a tendency to over do it some times...

You should be through the worst of it. I do not know why your head is spinning, I do not have an explanation for that.

Definitely get a police report, and tell your doctor what happened. Bring the police report with you. You may get a replacement script.

Lyrica works with gaba so it should alleviate some benzo withdrawal. Same goes for gabapentin (neurontin). Check out a local supplement store for phenibut as well as that should help.

Thank you all so much. I agree about the breaks... sorry for being such long story just wanted to add details to eliminate questions and I am feeling to drowsy to have caught the paragraphs as I am not myself right now but thanks for advise and especially all your kindness and not judging me. Yawl have happy weekend.

Oh, and I did file police report. I have had a talk with my teen about bringing folks in the house but I do have to say that they had been so called friends for a year and a half so I was shocked but I am 120% that he did it "long story" so I won't go there :\ Yes twotoomany you are right this was not by choice but forced due to being robbed of the scripts. I also had soma's for my extensive back problems. I am so thankful that my thyroid medicines and my asthma inhaler was not in the lock box.

Thanks Bunge! It feels wonderful and I am a much better "mom" becuz I am here not a zombie!!!!!! Rehab changed my life Bunge!!!!!! All I needed was that HELP and SUPPORT.. Thanks again!

Wow Mom, I'm sorry to hear you've been so sick. It's shitty that your medicine was stolen. That happened to me with Percocet several years back with percocets from when I broke my nose. I knew it was my neighbor who dropped in but nobody saw her taking them. They told me at the pharmacy without proof, I was pretty much out of luck and couldn't get them replaced.

When you mentioned you head the head-spins, the first thing the comes to mind is benzo withdrawal. I have been through opiate withdrawal at least 20 times and knew what to expect. But benzos were more rough and intense and that was one and only time coming off Xanax. I could not sleep because each time I closed my eyes, everything started spinning. (besides the sweating, hot/cold sensations, diarrhea and vomiting)

It's good you have some lyrica because that's supposed to help through these symptoms. I think the worst of it should be about over soon. I don't even have words to warn you enough about the kid situation. My son has a weed problem and his friends were in and out of my house over the summer. My things started coming up missing. This is a Darkside story back in here somewhere. Most likely, your son knows more than what he's saying. They're teenagers you know, it's all about them and they can't relate to the fact that you need these meds. Just keep an eye on him! Hope you feel better soon.

First of all, congrats on being clean for the last 4 and a half years!:-)
The symptoms your experiencing now (anxiety and head spinning) are likely from the lorazepam withdrawal as the physical side of the opiate withdrawal should be pretty much done.
When your body gets dependant on a drug it means your body has become used to operating with that drug is your system and has changed to way it works to balance out the effects of that drug. When you stop taking that drug, your bodty continues to act on the changed "settings" which gives rise to the withdrawal symptoms. Bear in mind of course that im vastly over simplifying the subject of dependance and withdrawal but its a vast subject and life is short.lol plus there are many sources that can do a better job and if your interested i could point you in the right direction.
Lorazepam, while not the worse benzo to go into acute WD from, is still up there with the big boys. if possible you would be better getting a benzo prescription to take you through. In the absence of any benzos pregabalin is probably the best option for you as both drugs affect the GABA complex in the brain and cause similar effects.
However lorazepam binds to a very specific set of receptors in the brain (a1 and a2 GABA, if i remember right) while pregabalin works in a more general way to increase GABA in the brain. My point being that it probably wont stop the lorazepam WD like another benzo would but will help with the general symptoms.
Its important that you discuss your situation with your doctor and if your symptoms get worse to seek medical assistance right away as pregabalin wont help with the more severe and dangerous benzo WD symptoms like seizures.
Anyway, that enough babbling from me.lol best of luck with everything and especially with your cancer tests/treatment.

Thanks so much.....TC and Bunge you both have been incredible. TC it's great to talk to another teen parent and Bunge thanks for the medical withdrawal info... a great help!!!!!!!
