I am withdrawing off Morphine, Going to see a psychiatrist tomorrow/What should I ask?
My family doctor is on vacation for this week, I asked if i could see another doctor at the office (no doctor is in) So I called the walk in, (they do not do narcotics) I have a appointment with my psychiatrist tomorrow, now I know in the USA (I live in Canada) a psychiatrist can prescribe any kind of medication that has a mind altering effect even opiates. It was my doctors intention to ween me off, but she forgot to give me a refill, and now i cannot get a hold of her. Should I ask my psychiatrist to help me out, because its making my anxiety worse (which is why I see him I have GPD GAD) And he would be the only one who could fill a prescription of an opiate. It would either be him or the ER. I think asking the psychiatrist would be the best option, as we have a close relationship. What do you guys think? Because I have been on morphine for over a year now, I cannot just stop cold turkey with my current state in life.
So basically what I am saying is........ Have you heard of psychiatrists giving an opiate medication in circumstances like these?
