Hello everyone. I've just recently quit all of the shit I was putting into my system. For your reference - here is a list:

  • Poppy Seed Tea (2.5lbs per dose / average doses per week: 1-3 / months used: 7)
  • Diazepam 5mg (10-20mg per dose usually with Nitrazepam / average doses per day: 4-6 / DAYS used: 5)
  • Nitrazepam 10mg (10mg doses / average daily doses: 2 / WEEKS used: 2)

Please note that the the end of usage of all of these substances was Mar. 1 - following a major alcoholic episode in which I blacked out and was arrested. I drank a few beers and about 100mL of 80 proof.. This was following 9 months of sobriety from alcohol.

I am currently taking reactine (non addictive allergy drug) to calm my symptoms which is effective; however, when I STOP taking my periodic doses of reactine, I develop severe hives all over my body and hands which are itchy as FUCK. I could seriously use some coarse sand paper to scratch it is so severe. And scares the SHIT out of my girlfriend I might add.

Aside from these symptoms, my only other symptoms of note are: depression,(..well moreso emotional rollercoaster-ing which is expected) boredom, mild feverish symptoms, vivid dreams (about using drugs)

Please note I've been taking 150mg of Wellbutrin XL for about 4 or 5 days now.

What's in this "reactine" allergy drug? Is it diphen? And how much of the active ingredient? How much do you take? I imagine if you're using it for the sedative effect, you'd have to take a bit more than normal (i.e. as I have to with diphen).

Sounds like you're having a histamine reaction. If reactine is an anti-histamine, it would be masking the histamine reaction effects when you're taking that med, so, as you mention, when you stop the histamine reaction will present itself.

Other than that though, I can say. Try and see a dermatologist if it's so sever.

I know for a fact diphen isn't in reactine because reactine is one of the new age anti-histamines that don't cause drowsiness.

reactine is cetirizine, i take it daily and it works well for histamine reactions. Strange that you are getting a histamine reaction after quitting poppy tea as it causes a nice histamine reaction. If you just stop taking reactine you may get a rebound histamine effect which might explain what's going on. I would also consider possible food allergies and possible changes to your environment, my allergies usually get pretty bad as the seasons change.

I started using cetirizine (Reactine) because of the reaction. I am still experiencing hives all over my body that are itchy as hell if I don't take it, but it seems like now I have to take 7.5mg rather than 5mg to get the same antihistamine effect. Any other suggestions? I've searched my apartment for anything that could be the source - no new laundry detergents, no change in soaps, or clothing. This is becoming somewhat alarming. What can you guys suggest?
