Hi all. I've been an opiate fiend for the most part of ten years. Recently i was on methadone maintenance (60mg) for about 9 months, then switched to suboxone (12mg) for two months, then got off the subs but i couldnt handle the wd so i was occasionaly using methadone every few days to kinda taper. My issue is that i recently just got hired for a new job which starts next week so i wanted to get over the wd before i start. I got 5 days in and i ended up usin 60mg of methadone yesterday (my usual dose) and i feel great physically but now im kickin myself cuz i dunno if that just made the 5 days of hell mean nothing. Does it basically just reset the wd back at day 1 if u use like i did? It usually takes about 3 days after taking dones for me to feel the full effects of wd again. My job starts in like 5 days...im kinda scared. Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated!

You are going to be a hurting mofo if you try to jump off at 60mg, and probably unable to work. You need to start a taper program, and not jump off until you are in the 0.25mg/day dose range or less.
You are not going to go from 60mg day to zero in 5 days. If you can take 60mg every 3 days, start your taper at 10mg a day, and go down slowly from there.

unfortunately i have no money and no way to get any more so tapering isnt really a feasable option. i've been taking 30-60mg of dones every 3-4 days for about the past 3 weeks. the longest i usually last without slippin is 4 or 5 days. i dont really have too many options available, i guess maybe i'll see if my boss would let me start a few days later than expected, but still i doubt if i get more than 7 days to shake this off.

My guess is u r iin for some serious suffering, bad timing dude, I feel for ya...maybe shoot for some non narcotic comfort meds like clonidine, lyrica,loperamide, hydroxyzine, things of that nature....u could always give kratom a go..never helped me and I have tried massive doses bit it works for some.
ya i kinda had a feelin i was gonna be screwed. I used kratom years ago when i kicked suboxone, but then i just ended up using kratom regularly, and i cant even afford it even if i wanted to. How long should i be expected to go thru the worst of the physical wds? i figured 7 days should be the most of it...at least thats what it was like last time i came off the suboxone. i felt like shit for weeks, but after the first week i was able to function pretty normally. like i said it usually takes about 3 days after my last dose for me to feel the full effects of wd. how long after that should i expect to be unable to work? i know its not an exact science, but even a guestimate would help me out here. i really dunno what im in for here.

Working thru WD can sometimes be a blessing tho...gets a major part of your day over with when you would normally be pacing the house staring at the clock making each minute seem like a godamn eternity!! I have worked thru many minor WD' s and like I said...it was better than sitting home bit I would imagine wd'ing from dones is a far more hellish experience than oxy..good luck
