Withdrawal Headache

I just blew through my month script of 180 proxies and 60 40 mg op oxycontin. 10 days until refill. I started on methadone. 10mg twice a day. It is somewhat controlling the withdrawals, but I have a headache that I can't shake. GI problems are also kicking in. Immodium has that under control, but I can't perform at work with this damn headache. Aches and my normal back pain are minimal, hot/cold spells suck, but can deal with. Can't sleep much at all either.

I tried upping the methadone 10mg a day up to 40/day, and not noticing any improvement. I can get some op80's from a friend. They suck, but at least I won't have this headache. It's deep in my head, behind my left eye. The place that always bothers me when a headache hits.

Question, is 20 mg/ a day enough methadone for a 300mg/ day oxy habit?

How long have you been taking the methadone? When did you run out of oxycodone?

If you just went from 300 mg/day of oxycodone to 10mg of methadone twice a day you're going to be uncomfortable for a few days to say the least.

You can't go from huge tolerance to small maintenance dosages and feel 100%, there is an 'adjustment' period. As your body adjusts to the new, much lower dosage there are going to be withdrawal symptoms but in all honesty loperamide and methadone should hold you over, IMO.

You can take more loperamide if you need to, and even up the dosage of methadone if you wanted, but you need to steer clear of oxycodone altogether for the time being. In the next couple of days you will start to feel a bit better. For the headache, try some low-dose caffeine + tylenol, ibuprofen or naproxen.

will staying on the low dose maintenance help lower the oxy tolerance, or just replace it?
