Opioids Withdrawal during tapering?

Hey all, I started a taper last week working my way down from 7-8 norcos per day until I see it through to sobriety. As I got down to about 3 pills per day I started feeling all the classic withdrawal symptoms (RLS, aches, diarrhea, headache, restlessness, poor sleep). Today I dropped down to 2 and a half pills, but the withdrawal symptoms seem to have lessened substantially.

Am I going through a prolonged withdrawal that will improve as I make my way to lower doses? Today I have an exorbinate amount of energy, and actually feel decent minus some aches and a slight headache.

Also, for everyone trying to get off opiates, you will be amazed how much of a mental fog you have been in during your use. I'm not even completely clean and already feel like I am thinking much clearer and coherently/ have better short term memory.

Any input is appreciated, I just don't know if its possible to withdraw before being completely clean, or if you can withdraw gradually.

You will usually feel withdrawal during the tapering process. It will happed until your body gets used to the lower dose. If you drop your dose when you already feel withdrawals, the withdrawals will continue.

For me, it usually takes 2-3 days for my body to adjust to the lower dose. So if you are dropping your dose every couple of days you will feel withdrawal for most of the tapering process. If you drop it every week, you will feel it for 2 days out of the week etc.....

Thanks for the response, also nice to see someone else from the Island on here.

The mental fog is why some people like opiates, others like me dont even get it; They speed me up.

But anyways, withdrawal during a taper is normal, and also a sign to slow down and stabalize. The whole point of a taper is to minimize withdrawal, just think of it as slowly comming down. Your going to have withdrawals during tapering if you go to fast because your body is "addicted" to a certain amount of the drug, by taking it away slowley you allow the concentrations of the drug in your blood to slowly go away, and minimize your pain.

It looks like your almost done, get some immodium and you'll be good. I've noticed opiates fuck up my vision, so that's another plus to quiting.

Peace.

Oh I agree, I loved the fog before it was a habit. Its just after a year and a half of pretty much never being sober of opiates, its weird but refreshing to see life without the opiate haze.

Yea theres only a couple of us on bluelight.

Its good for you to get off of the opiates now, especially considering all of the heroin floating around on LI these days.

Yea thankfully I'm nowhere near that mentally. The norcos were prescribed for a back injury, but I frankly hate being a slave to a pill bottle, so I would rather endure the back pain than continue down the opiate path. Being in law school is not conducive to being on opiates either.

Yea man I hear ya. I have been upstate at school for the past 2 years so have only ordered poppy pods a handful of times as far as using opiates goes. Alot of my friends from LI have become slaves to opiates since I have been gone. It sucks coming home for break and seeing a friends look even more strung out than the last time I saw them.

Some new symptoms appeared today...huge pupils(like I am on MDMA), and jaw clenching(chewed through my pen in class). Normal?

sounds like normal symptoms to me.

i'm on pain management and if i accidentally miss a dose huge pupils, jaw clenching, dryness of mouth and RLS kick in.

your body is adjusting to the lower doses when you finally stop taking them you will probly detox so i suggest having some muscle relaxers, valium and promethazine around to help calm alot of the withdrawl symptoms and some imodium ad wouldnt hurt either
