In the past I have experienced a physical addiction to opiates. Went from a pill habit to a IV black tar heroin habit. I ended up going to rehab, staying off that stuff, and been clean for over a year.

I figured after its been so long it would be safe to do some oxy and told myself it wouldn't hurt to do it just one more time.

Well 7 days ago I picked up 30mg oxycodone IR, crushed up the tablet and snorted it. I was surprised how high I got from the dose, this is day 1. Well next day(day 2) I made up some excuse to do it just one more time. Did another 30mgs. The next day (day 3) I somehow convinced myself to do it again, but 30mgs didn't do it for me, I did 60mgs, because 30mgs wasn't getting me as high. Well the day (day 4) it was a Friday, and convinced myself well its a friday night and I have nothing else better to do so I went and copped then railed 60mgs. The next day (day5) I told myself I'll do one more time, and upped by dose to 90mgs. Because the 60mgs wasn't cutting it anymore. So on day 5 I did 90mgs.

The next day 18 hours after my last dose I felt mildly sick. I felt mild aches throughout my body, my nose my runny, I felt abnormally cold, I kept sneezing, I was moody, anxious and all I could think of was " man life would be so much better if I just had another hit of whatever opiates"

That evening I ended up taking some xanax, which helped me sleep, and took away my anxiety, but it did nothing to erase the flu like feeling.

I woke up this morning, and felt the same as I felt yesterday. Same feeling and I had no motivational to do anything, except for thinking about how I can get my next dose, the only thing that was in the back of my mind was " if I got a hit of opiates things would be instantly better"

Today I tested this to see if I somehow caught a cold or if it was WD. I went out and copped some morphine, came back crushed up 15mgs, and up my nose. I felt 110% better, with all bad physical and psychological feelings gone. I ended up snorting another 15mgs and I'm mildly buzzed.

So is a 5 day opiate binge enough to push a previously opiate dependent back into WD even despite being clean for over 1 year? I was also shocked to see how much my opiate tolerance skyrocketed after just using for a few days.

Addiction sucks dude.

Ive heard this over and over.. Same exact story too, just different opioid combos and dosages, but it all sounds the same to me.

This is my fear as well.. Im on 30mg methadone a day (been on this dose for 6 months) (i came down from 140mg methadone a day, for 4 years)

I dont wanna drop off my methadone, get clean for 6 months and pick up a gauge and start bangin #4 Heroin

Anyways, my only advice to you is either stop completely, or stabilize yourself on a consistent dosage and taper so the withdrawals arent so devastating.

I guess the answer to your question is a resounding YES! It's amazing what your brain remembers. So now you know that you're not going to be able to use casually.

'Fraid so, dude... It's amazing how quick this shit snaps you right back up to where you left off... Hopefully it won't last too long, but a relationship with oxy is like having an incontinent old chihuahua with separation anxiety... All you can do is feed it and give it the endless love it needs, or leave it alone til it dies then clean up all the shit it left behind.

No rest for the addicted.

You are a true poet.
