So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell,
blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field
from a cold steel rail
A smile from a veil
Do you think you can tell
Did they get you to trade
your heroes for ghosts
Hot ashes for trees
Hot air for a cool breeze
Cold comfort for change
Did you exchange
a walk on part in the war
for a lead role in a cage
How I wish, how I wish you were here
We're just two lost souls
swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground
What have we found
same old fears.
Wish you were here...
-Pink Floyd

How well I know that fish bowl. Thanks for the song.. it's running through my mind now, and Pink Floyd is ALWAYS a good idea.

Pink floyd is all Ive been listening to lately,it brings back some hard memories but thats not necesarilly a bad thing.....thanks for the song

Coming from someone who's made all of those trades/exchanges, I can tell you...
I wish I was there too.

Honestly, Floyd isn't even in my top 5 list as far as bands go (they are amazing, just not quite in my top 5), but the above part of the "Wish You Were Here" will always in my mind rank among one of the most poignant and introspective lyrics in all of modren music, it's just pure fucking genius (As is the whole song really)...
Btw, I wasn't going to reply to this post, but the song has now been stuck in my head for several long hours, so I just thought I'd offer my thanks...
Thanks :)
