Will you still smoke weed if/when you have kids?

my grown girl was 14 when she said she was interested in trying pot. she knew i grew and used cannabis. she helped me grow. i gave her the "if you ever want to try it, try it at home" speech. i KNOW teens will probably try drugs...duh! so she tried my AK-47......spoiled her for life......=D

i don't plan on having kids, but if i did i don't think smoking marijuana as a parent and letting your kids know about it is any worse than drinking. you just have to explain it to them, give them facts, and tell them that it's a decision they can make for themselves when they are old enough. also tell them not to go around broadcasting it since it's still illegal.

but maybe i'd be a bad parent, so idk.

My dad gave up smoking weed just before my older brother was born.. then he started smoking leafy home grown stuff a few years ago but tried (and failed) to hide it from us. He still doesn't like us knowing he smokes weed and is against us from using it as he says smokes for 'medical reasons'. Saying that, a few weeks ago a friend of mine got hold of some lovely high grade stuff, we came back from a night out to find my dad also drunk and the night ended with everyone in the garden high as fuck.

But yeah.. I think if I have kids I'll try and be discreet when they are younger and just smoke occasionally when they have gone to sleep.

parents get drunk in front of their kids all the time. is smoking marijuana in any way less ethical?

This isn't something I've really thought about, I doubt I'm going to have kids, but I'm sure weed would still be a part of my life somehow, even if in a more restricted way...no more daily smoking for sure.

some douschebag: Yes because pots illegal. Your encouraging your kids to become criminals.

But yah I would keep it on the down low. Many of my friends in school told me that there parents smoked weed. Kids talk. Your secrets are only secret if you don't tell anybody...

I'll probably be smoking the same way I do now. I dont sit around getting stoned all day or even smoke alot. I smoke probably ~1g per day by taking a toke every once in awhile. Not even enough to smell up the room.

Nope, never. Ruining someone else's life by wasting money or getting thrown in jail is not my idea of how to raise a child.

what dude? Wasting money? Going to jail? Where the hell do you think you are, GOP convention?

since ill be living in cali i assume it'll be legal, yea i will. ill prob hide it from em hopefully until hs, then i'll explain to them about it and hopefully have their first toke with em, guide em through it, cuz i know some people who realllyyy freaked out their first time. ill let them smoke on the balcony, i dont want the house reeking of weed. i'll tell em about serious drugs and consequences for having them. if their grades fall i will take it away, i know potheads who are smoking life away, im not having that happen.

The illegality and negative social plays a big roll. I once read about a little girl that called the cops on her parents saying she is a DARE kid, when she found 2 oz of weed since that is what she was taught to do in school. Whats really disturbing is they gave her a DARE diploma and some other reward for sending parrents off to jail.

Even if things are still the same way I'll still do it but defently be alot more carefull and not do it around them and as much. Hopefully things will change by then so I'll not have to worry about that. Just like I am now; I'll never let it get in the way of my responcebilites.

Did you know that DARE isn't mandatory and you can opt your kid out of it? My parents did that for me so I didn't have to sit through all of their bullshit drug scare tactics. Anyway, yeah, I'd probably smoke every once in a while and make sure to educate my kids properly about drug use (And smoke with them ;) )

personally i believe if you can be responsible and stoned then why not? like some one else stated parents get drunk infront of there kids all the time. but idk if my kids where about 15 16 id tell them i smoke. and if they where to smoke they would have to get it from me. why u may ask...well for the simple fact that people these days are shady. they put some serious shit in it. i personally dont want to sound preachy or anything but i dont believe in drugs. there bad and very bad for u...i only say this because ive done them. have almost died twice. and i dont want my kids to go through that.

i'm a single parent with 4 kids 10 to 18 and i smoke a good measure very regularly. i smoke outside cos i have to respect their space, but they're aware of it. for them the rule is "if you're gonna try it, the first time is at home and NOT before 18" -that goes for any 'shit' -the eldest tried some weed for a few weeks but quit unimpressed. clearly my use and sanction did not affect her opinion of it.

Sure, as long as you do so responsibly, why not? I certainly wouldn't get high every day for the same reason that I wouldn't get drunk every day - that's no way to raise a kid, and better to set a good example for 'em. I don't smoke daily anyway, so it really wouldn't be much of a problem. And I'll probably let them smoke at the same age that I'd let them drink, although I'm not sure when that would be.

No. I'm going to give it up almost for good when i start a family, smoking on rare occasions maybe a few times a year. I'll have better things to do then to get stoned :D

thank god i quit blazin b4 havin a kid lol and thank god again ill never have a child - such a pain in teh ass:p

I'm not going to have kids till my 30s but once they are 18 I'd smoke with them.
