Will withdrawal still happen when switching from oxy to another opioid?

I've poked around this board for a while now but never registered- now I have a question that I can't find the answer to on here though. If it IS here somewhere I apologize in advance. I've been using oxycodone for a fairly long time now and I'm going to switch because we're getting OxyNeo here pretty soon...If I keep getting oxycontin as long as I can and then switch to something else right after I run out will I still experience withdrawal from the oxy even though I'm on another opioid? I'm guessing maybe based on how strong/the dosage of whatever drug I'm switching to is? For the sake of an example, would I experience withdrawal if I take the same dose of morphine as Oxy but not experience withdrawl if I take hydromorphine because its stronger(i know it wouldnt be safe to take hydromorphine at the same dose as I oxy though) How about if I upped the morphine dosage?

Also, Does anyone know of a reliable website that has info on the kind of opioid switching I'm talking about? I don't know if I'm wording my internet searches wrongly and thats why I'm not coming up with anything or what.

Anyways, thanks for any info you can give me!

You may have to adjust dosages, up or down a bit, but switching to another opioid will not cause you to experience withdrawal. Of course if you stopped ALL use of opiates, it would be then that you would experience withdrawal.

You are using a semi-synthetic opiate, so I would guess you would be fine switching to really any opioid at an equipotent dose w/ some exceptions like tramadol, meperidine/pethidine, or other whacky opioids. But you would be fine at an equipotent (or even slightly less) dose of say morphine or hydromorphone as you have exampled in your post, yes. It might take a few days to get used to and to find a good dose, but there shouldn't be much trouble.

i USED TO switch from sniffing oxy to sniffing heroin and there was barely any difference in anything. No witdhrawals, they felt practically the same, heroin lasted maybe a lil longer, but I could basically get 5 bagS of dope for the cost of 1 30mg oxy IR lol..so FUCK oxycodone
