Will this pattern of opiate use lead to addiction? (experienced opiate users reply)

I have determined any consecutive opiate use will lead to addiction. Even if it's once a week.... well it starts that way.. Then you decide fuck it.. it's nice to feel good twice a week... on and on and on. It gets worse.. All of a sudden you're using daily.. not to get high.. just to feel normal and not be sick. It consumes your life because all of a sudden you're worried about where your next fix is coming from. It's not fun anymore, it's life. Just keep that in mind before you decide to use Oxy in any kind of order... I wish you the best of luck.

I disagree with a lot of these posters. If you snort a line only once every 24 hours, I don't think your body will become dependent on it. That is how I started out, and once I had to quit I had no withdrawals. Short acting opiates like codeine, hydro, morphine, oxy, etc have really short half lives and if you were really physically dependent on one of those drugs you would be experiencing withdrawal symptoms by the 24 hour mark. Plus you are sticking with the same dose. If you take the same dose daily and go full days between doses I don't think you should build more than a slight tolerance if at all nor should you experience bad withdrawals if any when you stop.

If that's the case, then I doubt you use that much hydromorphone.

Actually, I initially responded to your inquiry with helpful information and a personal anecdote, but once you started to take the very attitude that you're criticizing, you got what you gave.

If you sniff a line everyday you will become dependent. Also, that does not mean that you will be experiencing withdrawal at the 24 hour mark. When I first started to experience opiate withdrawal, it took 3 days to start feeling, and that was with oxycodone use. I have also experience withdrawals when using 3 days a week, so there really isn't any part of your post that I agree with.

I have to say I'm with Tommyboy on that one..

Let's try to keep things civil in here too everyone, there are strong opinions on this subject but remember people are trying to help. Any inflammatory posts or flaming will be removed.

I think this thread has run it's course actually - we've presented all the information we have, and the OP has updated us - everything else is unnecessary and I can't see much HR value in this continuing anymore. Besides which, BDD is primarily a quick q&a forum and this is getting pretty long.. and we'll end up going round in circles.

If anyone has any queries about this please feel free to shoot me a pm.
