I was recently involved in a very serious head on collision car accident. I wasn't at fault; however, I was arrested for possession of illegal substances that were in my car. Anyhow; I suffered minor injuries, I'm very thankful and lucky to be alive. I wrote this poem which is inspired by my dad, my girlfriend, and of course the car accident. Hope you enjoy.
Will The Light Shine On Me Again?
As I lay listening to the thoughts in my head, down on me they rain
I open an umbrella to protect myself from their delivering pain
But it’s in this nightmare where my memories come to life and explain,
“You’ll never be able to leave us behind, and you’re the only one to blame!”
With myself I fight; and to Them I reply, “Will I wake up this time?”
And I wonder… when again will down on me the sun shine.
I must sever free to escape, but from this delusion I can’t awake
And from the struggle I can feel my soul begin to contort and then break
As it shatters feeding its tainted poison through my veins I hear it say,
“I’m your Demon of Hate, and it’s me you must fight for your sanity’s sake!”
With It I fight; and to myself I reply, “Please let me wake up this time!”
And I wonder… when again will down on me the moon shine.
A victim of fate and to my deserving throat is its deadly blade
So on my knees over and over to God I beg for forgiveness and pray
I listen for Him to respond and sooner than later he has something to say,
“Don’t worry all will be okay; I’ve got something special on its way.”
With myself I still fight; and to Him I reply, “Will I wake up this time?”
And I wonder… when again will down on me the light shine.
Out of the nightmare I awake feeling myself start to fade and die
And from the struggle to survive I can feel my heart begin to rupture and cry
As it weeps seeping its antidotal blood through my veins I hear it imply,
“I’m your Angel of Love; I was sent from the Heavens high above the sky.”
With myself I now don’t fight; and to Her I reply, “I will wake up this time.”
And I no longer wonder… when again will down on me the light shine.
With a heart like no others yet similar to mine She is a one of kind
And from Death I’m saved by the blinding look into Her beautiful blue eyes
They take me in and carry me away to a place that I’d never leave behind
Standing by my side together to my delusional nightmare we wave goodbye.
In Love and Death our forever happiness will keep us together eternally alive
From it our Demon’s of Darkness can’t hide because it provides light that will always shine.
