Will the bladder heal from ketamine damage?

I went on a tiny bender with snorting ketamine and I've noticed my bladder doesn't hold as much as it used to, and so I'm peeing more frequently. I have since stopped (after binging off and on, on almost 8 grams over the period of about a month and a half) and am concerned that my bladder shrinkage will not heal itself.

I got especially worried after searching Google and finding this: http://www.tripproject.ca/trip/?q=node/1993

It says that the bladder will not heal to the state it was before? Is this true? Does anyone have some experience with this topic to share with me?

Thanks for your time!

I wouldn't worry. Yes I have felt like that before and considering the limited amount you took from a chronic use point of view there should be no lasting damage. You can never be certain (realize that you can mess up your bladder spontaneously or naturaly as well even if that would be 'astronomically coincidental').
But let this be a lesson that these sorts of benders are what get you in the end. Be aware very early next time, stop before you begin bingeing.

The further you go along this path, the thicker and more scarred the inner lining of the bladder will become and the more chronic your urinating issues will become.

Hopefully this answers your question satisfactory?

Thank you, solipsis.

I will be more aware certainly if I decide to use again. I just hate this side effect of ketamine, especially considering that it is my favorite drug, and basically maybe the only drug that I like, or affects me well.

I will be more careful in the future and use more sporadically as well, that is if I decide to dabble into ketamine again.

Thanks again.

I too have felt the effects of K-bladder. Pissing every 30 minutes and sometimes it felt like I was pissing razor blades. That was also doing grams a day for over a week at a time, also doing even more on a weekend. Once I cut back it got better and once I had stopped for over a month and my pee breaks got better but I'm still not 100%. Although I haven't completely cut it out either.

It will mess up your bladder, my one buddy can't go for a ride to the city without stopping and pissing and another one ended up on methadone because of the pain he had.

Also if you get a sharp pain in your stomach stop right away and you better have a very strong anti-acid/heart burn relief because you will feel like you're dying.

Yup ^ That would be spasms of the gall bladder mostly IIRC. And also as a possible bonus, on more than one occasion for me: a wretched gut from not being able to eat because the GI system feels as if paved with cement. Man, the agony! :€

I've had the pleasure of having K-pains twice. First time I couldn't do anything for 3 days cause I was in soo much pain. Finally went to the hospital in tears and got shot up with morphine, helped for about 8 hours then the pain came back after they kicked me out with an addiction pamphlet lol. Second time I was able to catch it and slam Pepto and Zantac and made it stop. These happened within a month of each other. After that I took a fairly long break and havent had one in a while. I've been a bit more careful about my intake.

from a harm reduction point of view is it better to strictly do IM? with snorting you do way more K and therefore more metabolites to irritate the bladder... or at least thats how i think it works

From a harm reduction point of view, if you're doing enough K for ROA to make a difference on health impact, you're an addict and you're doing way too fucking much. Actually, if you're doing enough K for it to have a health impact, you're an addict and you're doing way too fucking much.

I'll advise you now that dissociatives are best left as a once person season thing, if you're as drawn to them as some of us.

I don't think the ROA matters because ultimately your kidneys have to process the chemical and it ends up in the bladder. Same goes for the liver.

The ROA side effects is something that I would like to know more about. Anyone know if IV is actually less harmful?

I never had any bladder problems with IV roa or nasal. Though my friend did and after a few months he's pretty much back to where he was before. Though we were doing massive amounts of ket. I think it might have to do with bladder size of the researcher.

It does heal; and looking at the amounts you did so far and the symptoms you mention I'd say it should probably restore to almost normal as long as you cut down and drink a lot of water. Don't let the habit get any worse though because once you get to the serveral grams a day stage the pain in your bladder can become insanely bad (as if it's full of hot crushed glass) and you could even end up peeing blood (I have at some point). The good news is though that even if you get to that point, if you take a proper break and give your body time to heal symptoms can clear up in a matter of days; atleast in me they did (no matter how bad the pain has become, even as little as a three day break can be enough for the pain to go away, bladder capacity takes a bit longer but really it dóes restore, a body can regenerate quite well). Be aware you need to drink a lót of water and if possible always keep usage down to weekends only or less, also avoid more then one gram in a session. For proper damage you need to really overdo it but if you feel your bladder behaving different then prior to the drug use, don't ignore the warning sign :o For me doing just some K on the weekends is enough to avoid serious bladder issues but I tend to fuck up and go for a week-or-longer binge every once in a while. Don't let it get that far though, avoiding damage is still better then trusting on your body to recover.

all of my friends who stopped being ktards got better after they started taking care of their bodies.

try to limit abusing the drug, and if you do, cleanse and take care of your body after you do.

As long as your injection methods are impeccable, the damage done by the ketamine is probably the least amount possible i.e. it is unavoidable and intrinsic because as is said: it always ends up in the blood being metabolized by the liver and ultimately excreted through the kidneys and bladder. The only remote possibility may be finding some way to inhibit metabolism of the N-methyl group. Not sure what other pathways there are but if norketamine is the worst then the more ketamine being excreted not passing through to the norketamine stage the better. But maybe this is shortsighted and you may extend the possibility of the ketamine to do other nasty things during the prolonged lifetime you give it in your body. Purely theoretical argument in any case.

IVing does not sound better than IM to me. Well maybe purely from a damaging metabolite point of view but the chance of inducing anaesthesia (blacking out) does not seem worth it. Unless you don't think there is any difference between blacking out and K-holing. Then again I only have experience with IM so what do I know?

My body feels loads better since I stopped taking K, also I neglected taking care of myself when I was on it which made it that much worse.
