Will somebody explain MDMA a little(culture) and how do you dance?

Ain't that the truth. Fuck over-complicating it. Shit when I'm rollin dick in the middle of mob at a rave i'll end up hanging my head, closing my eyes, and barely sway side to side while I bounce my head a little to the beat and just let the bass and sound course through me. Fuck what anyone else thinks, that DJ is playing just for me during that time. Everyone else may as well be ghosts around me.

^that. i am a slow dancer. 170bpm jungle moving at 85bpm, think first few raves on dissociatives influenced this..

the whole point of dancing is it's a creative process... it's fine to take hints from how other people dance but maximum enjoyment comes when you feel the music and express it through your body.

Personally I think over-complicated dancing defeats the purpose. I want to be in a state of ecstasy, not fretting over the next move.

Oh yeah man.

Dancing is a form of expression anyways... why would you express someone else? :sus:

Feel the beat... not the "boom boom" or the "la da nah nah" but the "thwack", the snare or pop...

Boom ba da boom thwack, ba boom ba da bam thwack, boom la da chicka thwack...

You can snap your fingers to it... but theres one every four counts (3 counts for some music but same principle)... most people cant dance because they dont hear the root beat of music... or they cant separate it from the half, quarters, eighths, sixteenths ect... they listen to the notes or chord changes and try to move to that which doesnt work because those dont neccesarily match up or have a rhythmic pattern that repeats in the same relation to the main beat... you have to have your core movements matched to the core beat...

Line dancing is popular because its easy to learn... wether country or hip hop theres always a very defined beat... and you have everyone else to watch and learn from... and the steps are few and slow and easy... most have only 2 to 12 steps... and you always do them in the same order and start over every 2 or 4 counts...

The best way is to clap ar snap your fingers with the beat... do it while walking... left, right left "snap" (as that second right touches down)... thats a four count... next just walk in place picking up and setting down your feet... this is dancing...

Now step left forward and then step the riht foot up next to it, then left foot back to where it was and riht foot step back beside it... same count 4 steps, 4 counts... left right left right, one two three four, left right left "snap"...

Then side to side left foot left, right foot joins, the difference now is that to go back you have to now move back right you step again with your riht foot and then bring the left to join it... so its left right right left... or left right right "snap"

Then you can just keep stepping and moving with any foot as long as it stays on beat...

You can do it with one foot, left forward, left back, left to the side, and back "snap"...

Let your hips lead your movements, and let your arms swing a lil... to the same 4 count... but dont make the mistake of letting your arms double time your count... arms shouldnt move back and forth or up and down more than once every four count...

Left arm up, right arm up, left down riht down... thats a four count... or if your moving them both together you count it like; up, stop, down, stop... a "stop" is a little bounce or twitch... a "dime stop" is what i call it... whats going on is when you move both arms at the same time (or legs but thats more advanced) your taking the one two count from the left and the three four count of the right and doing them at the same time so you have to add the "dime stops" after each to make up for the other two...

Most importantly, all dancing is basicly the same... its all based on a core pattern of a couple of basic steps or moves that match the core beat of the music...

Practice in the mirror and check out youtube instructionals... its fun and easy and good exercise too =D

Its about how you feel when you dance. I feel more empathic with my friends, really huggy-touchy-lovey on breaks between songs probably looking like mongs but it feels great. *How* I dance?.. sorta pointing to ceiling lol both hands,, maybe alternate ones, big shit-eating grin lol, try to adapt to the music.. when its mdma its normally house/hardstyle/chart/club stuff, not much thought needed there like lol

Yep its all about feeling what your hearing and letting your body move to the beat, i agree entirely, but if your hearing it in w way that your body doesnt feel good moving to then youll get frustrated... i certainly did for a long time...

I would feel the music in me but my body didnt seem to know what parts to follow and id get off beat or just couldnt follow the music... and it was just kinda impossible for me to get into it and enjoy myself because the feeling of wanting to move to the music wasnt matching the actual movements i was making because i would try to move to the bassline or the rhythm of the music and i knew it wasnt what i was feeling exactly, but didnt know that i needed to listen to the snare or "snap/clap" and didnt understand the basic pattern or counts...

More or less my idea of dancing was to, try and take a different step for every drum and/or bass hit and then kinda move my arms to the high notes... kinda looked like i was trying to do the truffle shuffle while playing hop scotch or having a seizure...

It was embarassing to do if anyone was watching and not much fun when i was alone even because it wasnt the feel i was thinking i wanted to feel because it had no rhythm to it and thats the feel that your trying to express and move to...

Id just kinda end up bobbing my head or tapping a foot because that felt good and i could do it with a rhythm that worked with the music... then one day this chick friend of mine was like "come dance with me" and i told her i couldnt and have tried many times to no avail... she said "snap your fingers to the beat" and i proceeded to snap out every drum hit or note and she told me basicly what i posted earlier and i was dancing and having a great time doing it within minutes... and suddenly i could now make my body move the way i wanted it to and actually enjoyed myself instead of being like "eff this its not working right"

Now i dance all the time and instead of being frustrated and embarassed of my dancing i get a lot of satisfaction and when someone comes up to ask me to show them something or compliment me on my moves its the opposite of embarassing... and i also love that it was super easy once i learned how to hear the proper beat... thats really the key... ive never ever had a formal dance lesson just a quick 2minute explanation on what the core beat is and how to listen for that and count it out with your steps... from there ive just looked at some random vids on youtube about techniques and flasy stuff and practice it in the mirror and can usually pick them up quick cuz theyre all just variations of the basic four count...

If nobody had told me id still be thinking that dancing was impossible and that i was just tone deaf or rhythmicly dyslexic or something and would never be able to hear the music properly to dance to it.. when in reality i was just hearing it wrong and was trying to overcomplicate it by trying to move too much by trying to make a new move or step for every sound i heard....

And also now i can watch people and know after about 4 steps if they are having the same issue and how to help them too....

I think a lot of people have this issue and dont realize how easy it is to just chill out and step to the beat and not get caught up in trying too hard and failing and then thinking hey lack the ability...

Anyways if anyone has any questions or anything or wants some instruction on basics of dancing so you can have fun and not worry about people lauhing at them, just ask, i can help im sure of it... if i could be taught to dance hen anyone can :D

Prior to taking drugs, my understanding of dancing in a club was based on experience in venues in which the aim is to pull. In that environment - i.e. most people are drinking and looking to score - there seems to be a lot of pressure to dance 'well,' and not look stupid. When you're in a club on MDMA, surrounded by all these wonderful people, the majority of whom are also on something, the atmosphere is completely different. The whole process of having fun is not ego driven and dancing becomes a way to connect with the music and those around you. I'm a crap dancer, I don't do much. Just feel the beat, wave my arms around like an idiot and draw crazy little patterns in the air with my hands. Do I care that I look stupid, not a bit. I'm not sure anyone else cares either.

My last 'dancing' experience was on a very strong dose of 5 and 6-APB whilst watching Astrix. I was tripping and rolling like crazy. The music, the crowd and the lights merged into one giant fractal. I was up on stage with my girl and my friends. We danced like it was our last few minutes on Earth. Music, dancing and drugs are awesome!

haha that's me on ket

but yeah i usually do the typical bopping to side to side thing in time with the snare when it comes to dnb, jumping around a bit and just going mad.

god i fucking wish i was at a rave or something right now.

I'm a big fan of the "punch the ground > elbow the air" move ;)

I thought: 'huh?' Then I put my fists towards the ground, elbows in the air and pumped up and down. Then I smiled. The small moments of happiness in front of my computer screen :-).

When you're on MDMA, you just dance. Everyone dances differently. Some people dance really crazy, but it's fun, it doesn't even matter.
As well, make sure you haven't used 4-FA or anything recently. I once used 4-FA one weekend and MDMA the next weekend, figure it would be okay, they are different drugs, but the MDMA roll was very much dulled, presumably because of using 4-FA the previous weekend. Just keep that in mind :)

I've got visions of you fist pumping away in your room! haha... and now i'm doing it!

best advice I can come up with is just to let your inner spirit take over. let the soul flow from your body and out onto the dance floor.

Start by taking some TESTED & confirmed MDMA. Or drinking a moderate amount of alcohol. Or like .5 mg xanax.

If you take X pills, for God's sake use a reagent test on them to make sure it's MDMA. If it's not MDMA you probably won't feel like dancing.

Once whatever inhibition losing substances you decided to take have started to set in, listen to the music, bob your head to the beat. I find head bobbing is a great way to get a feel for the music.

Once you have a feel for the beat, move your shoulders. Move your hips. Move your feet. Get comfortable dancing to the song and let loose!

Once you do this, you should be dancing.
