Will smoking opium rev up my benzo withdrawal symptoms?

Hi guys=)

I'm in valium withdrawal which was made worse by my going on and off the drug over a period of a few weeks, inducing the kindling effect. I used to smoke weed all the time but if I smoke the tiniest ammount now, I feel like I am approaching a seizure (something I have never experienced.)

I happen to have some Opium. I've read that opiates can lead to decreased GABA availability, something that, as my receptor's current ability to attract GABA is reduced by the withdrawal, I imagine might lead to increased withdrawal symptoms, in the worst case, a seizure.

I dont have much understanding of opiates, this piece of opium will probably be my first and last experience. Is the opiate likely to 'rev up' my withdrawal symptoms, or is the mode of action very different?

thanks in advance

from experience opiates will lessen the withdrawal significantly. It's possible it could increase anxiety a bit through dopamine release and dopamine being broken down to norepinepherine but for me opiates kill my anxiety and help especially well in reducing symptoms of benzo withdrawal.

Generally opioids are helpful for benzo withdrawals and benzos are helpful for opioid withdrawals. Opioids can slightly decrease the release of GABA, but they do a lot more than that and I would be surprised if opium made your benzo withdrawals worse, it should likely make the withdrawals better. I don't think that it should increase the seizure risk as opioids are CNS depressants. Maybe go slowly and be careful not to smoke too much since you've never tried it before :)
