Will put you to sleep (Help for tweakers)

Apart from anecdotes, I have seen nothing in this thread showing that Seroquel has an increased risk of side effects when compared with other atypical antipsychotics. I had a quick looks through eMIMS yesterday, and found a decent chart comparing incidence of side effects with Seroquel compared with placebo, yet couldn't find a similar chart showing this data for other atypicals. I might try and dig up some more information on this, though confounding factors such as methamphetamine use could alter this data.

i find after several days that i notice a lack of dopamine even if having only 25-50mg a night.
just things like twitches/tics, trouble arranging thoughts and trouble articulating speech as well as increased restless legs, full body akathisia and some other TD traits like inability to stop tongue movement.

thought and speech issues are apparent even during the day time.

i would say i'm an exception though - i get these side effects from all drugs with a tendency to lower dopamine production or absorption.

all issues disappear after two days of last dose.

once off use after a bender doesn't cause these problems at all and i find helps alot mentally if you just want to stop 'tweaking' (some time after last puff/dose) so to speak without attempting sleep.

Trust me when I say quetiapine in no dose will equal the sedating effects of zuclopenthixol. However if you're ever as unfortunate as me and get an acuphase injection... Fuck does it suck.

1000mg of seroquel a day and you're in Zombie mode though. However I got symptoms of TD with my experience of most atypical antipsychotics.

300mg of seroquel and i can hardly construct a sentence the next day.
That kinda cognitive impairment is not good for the brain.

I feel better after having grams of ketamine in a night than i do after seroquel.

I was on 400mg XR and 600mg IR. Cognitive function went out the door. It was like being a passenger in my own body.

if you guys are trying to achieve sleep you're doing it wrong lol.
the higher the dose the less sedating it becomes and the more it fucks with in your brain.

lower doses for sleep shouldn't produce those effects in everyone.

I was not using it for sleep.

However you are quite correct, low doses of seroquel are a big favourite to put psychiatric patients to sleep in the two psych wards I've been to (Southern Medical Centre - Monash, Clayton - Melbourne and St Helens Private Hospital - Hobart, Tasmania).

yeah i assumed with an XR and IR dose you had other reasons.
i've read alot of horror stories from people on high daily doses, but there are some that gave people the ability to function.
its clearly a class of drug that is going to effect people differently simply due to its make up and different effects at different doses.

regardless, there is obviously a few options in this thread, but there is a trade off on all of them.
i know antihistamines wouldn't do shit for me due to tolerance, benzos i can get but try to avoid again due to tolerance and seroquel is easily obtainable and will work but can cause some unwanted side effects at higher or frequent doses.

its never good to rely on one drug or class for sleep issues (especially after meth), so if you can find at least a couple that works for you and alternate, this will help ensure future success with little negatives.
burning all your bridges will shit you up the wall when you require legitimate help with sleep and can find nothing that works without a bad list of cons vs pros like mixing medications and increasing doses to a silly amount.

I met a girl in the ward on 2000mg's a day. However she was horrendously delusional at points (she literally thought she was a stegosaurus at one point)

I find seroquel made me not able to feel... well anything at all. I prefer to live life in my permanent hypomanic and somewhat delusional state than in the vortex of emotionless being quetiapine entails. It killed my creativity, destroyed my drive and quashed my intellect.

It sucks when you require legitimate help and it can't be found.

that goes with many stories i have read about high dose users.
i've tried several a typical antipsyhs, but only at low dose, but i could imagine the effects a high dose would have on someone.

in every case i read it sounded like the person had to eventually reach a point where they realised things were at a point they were not happy with and the trade off between heavy meds vs alternate or no treatment was an obvious choice.
if that experience in itself can help someone then i dont think its such a lost cause, but it can be quite a decision to make when you are in that situation and i assume takes a strong willed person to start with to acknowledge and make changes.

if you're still experiencing similar issues i hope you find something that works.
sadly theres a million meds out there with almost as many different use for each, finding a Dr willing to work through things in a logical manner is a different story though.

pot + (insert benzo of choice) + (if necessary) codeine + (if still necessary) clonidine --- none of the downers in amounts you personally would regard as unsafe in such a combo. if you have no idea whats safe for you and what isnt, ride it out...think of speed as a delayed acting depressant :P

in emergency seroquel (without the above)

antihistamines have little to no effect on me, there is still othere actions at play when you take seroquel even at low doses.

Agreed! I'm sure most would agree that any poly-drug use isn't a good thing, regardless of why or what you're taking. :\ Most (although not all but definitely most) problems I've seen/encounter/experienced was due to poly-drug use. Prime is example is benzo + alcohol. I've personally experienced many blackouts, only due to this combo, and had to help a few people who weren't careful enough with this combo.

Having said that, if we did what we were always told, no one would take drugs in the first place! =D

Be safe! :)
