So, I've searched the internet for a good hour to find this question. I didn't really find a direct answer, so my best bet is to ask. First, a little background info.
I went to my psychiatrist on Friday, hoping for her to prescribe me something for my lack of motivation and my procrastination/not being able to focus on one task. I've only been seeing a psychiatrist for two years, I'd say, and my first one kept putting me on different medications. Just recently, I've been looking up the symptoms of ADD/ADHD and have taken a few tests just to test the waters. Many of the symptoms matched mine, and the tests came out that I was likely to have it.
Anyways, at my psychiatrist's I explained this to her, and I asked her if I could take a test. Now, this lady is very pushy, controlling, and rude, and I told her it was in my best interest that I'd be tested. But instead, she said that if I was put on medication, it would make my anxiety worse. Having taken adderall/vyvanse before, I knew this wasn't true, but I wasn't about to just say that and blow my chance of getting it. She prescribed me 20 100 mg Modafinil pills. I was very upset about this, because I believe adderall or vyvanse is just what I need to get my life together. I almost did not graduate high school because of the issues I have, and now I find it hard to stay at task. It's quite frustrating. I had to remind her to also add my klonopin, which, I've told her countless times that .5 mg didn't work well and that I'd like to increase dosage, which is true. I'm prescribed gabapentin for sleep, and she didn't add that either, and I was just done at this point. My social anxiety is so great that I thought I could go 2 weeks without it to avoid an awkward conversation. And here I am, at 7 AM typing this out, when I could be fast asleep. I'd use my klonopin, but I need that desperately in case of a panic attack.

Now, enough with the background info. I took one 100 mg pill of Modafinil at about 3:30 yesterday. I noticed I did have energy, but I felt jittery, light headed and nauseous. No feelings of motivation. I think I read one post on a different website about this drug breaking down enzymes, which could weaken the effects of Roxi. I'm finally acquiring some roxi tomorrow, and it is me and my boyfriend's 6 month mark, and I wanted to make it special for us to be together, feeling ethereal. We enjoy taking pain killers together.
I really, really need to know if the Modafinil will greatly lessen the effect of the roxi. It costs a lot of money, and I would hate to get my hopes up even more for this. I would also hate to waste it just because I took a stupid pill that my doctor gave me that resulted in nausea.

I think the half life for 100 milligrams is 12-15 hours. I'm going to be honest here. I'm extremely bad at math and am more left brained, so I've been frustrated trying to calculate how long it would take to get out of my system.

I really need an answer by a little later today, and I really appreciate your time. If I don't receive a reply, then at least thank you for reading and I'll hope for the best. (:

Welcome to Bluelight.

I have been prescribed Modafinil along with my oxycodone before and it did not affect it at all. If it were to do so, it would be very little.

A little info for you regarding the Adderall or Vyvanase..they absolutely can worsen your anxiety. I don't know what you experience with those meds are (how often and how much you have taken) but not only is that a side effect that is possible I have experienced it myself. It caused me almost unbearable anxiety. It did not occur everytime I took it but after taking Adderall on and off for about 2 months it definitely became an issue. Modafinil usually receives high praises from others and works pretty well. If you are experiencing shakiness, nausea etc from it you are likely to experience it from the other stronger meds.

Sometimes when you have a new doc you have to jump through some hoops for medications and try regimens that they want you to before you get to others. Occasionally docs do know what works and what you think you need may not always be your best bet. I think you should give it a chance and see if it will work for you before you just disniss it completely. Taking the medication one time is not sufficient amount to determine if it will work out. Also frequently the side effects will lessen after being on them for a couple of weeks.

Goood luck.

Thank you so much for your reply. It really gave me more hope. (:

I understand exactly where you're coming from, and theoretically, that would be the case. I've taken it countless times, and I find that it reduces my social anxiety greatly, as absurd as that sounds. When I'm at home, I'm comfortable. When I'm out of my element, I constantly feel as if people are judging me and avoid all confrontation that I can. I feel so much tension when I'm in a public place and I see somebody I know who I'm not friends with. When I take these medications, I feel way more confident and I feel as if I can actually communicate with others properly as a human being should. She doesn't take the time to understand how I'm feeling, and every appointment I've ever had with her seems so rushed. I'd just appreciate it much more if I could be able to talk to her without being interrupted and such...

Again, thanks very much!!

It sucksbut that is the case with so many doctors today. It is especially bad when it is the type of doctor you go to that is supposed to listen to what's going on (psych). Is it possible to find a new doc that you are more comfortable with? It makes a lot of difference in how you feel if you have one that you can develop an understanding relationship with.

I'm not quite sure. The place I go to is one big health center and everything there is covered by my insurance. I told my mother about the situation, and it appears as if I'm allergic to the modafinil, or something along those lines because I ended up developing a rash. I'm going to call my psychiatrist tomorrow and hopefully schedule an earlier appointment to see if there's anything else that can be done in my favor. I know this sounds really baby-ish, but due to being extensively shy and having major social anxiety issues, I'm probably going to have my mom come in and help me talk to her. I'm 18, and have been shy to talk to anyone there, even though they prefer it, but I believe my mother can help me get through to her about what I want, my discomforts taking medication that can potentially be lethal, and that I know nothing about, etc.

On a slightly different note, we did not end up getting the Roxis, sadly, however I did not find a major interference with modafinil and regular hydrocodone.
