Will LSD help friend suffering from HPPD?

No Effing Idea
So one of my friends had a bad shroom trip when he was tripping by himself. He felt like he was going to die after smoking weed, while on shrooms. Since then he hasn't felt comfortable smoking weed.

He had gotten better but then we did shrooms again a few weeks ago and he says he can't smoke weed alone anymore, or he can't smoke too much because he gets "shroomy."

He has never done LSD before, and from what I've heard LSD is quite nice to you the first few times you do it. So I was wondering if taking LSD would make him feel better about smoking weed?

No reason why it should. If he panics on weed then what's the motivation in giving him LSD? He's just going to shit a pot full isn't he.

LSD hits a lot of the same receptors in your brain as mushrooms. There's no reason it's be a good idea to dose your friend unless you like 12 hours of "hey when do I come down".

Bad idea, LSD is just another psychedelic although I find it less ego-destroying than mushrooms. A cannabis overdose (yes it's possible even if it is not physically threatening) is almost a reliable way to make you feel like you are dying isn't it :) I think that is the danger with something like JWH-018 as well. Cannabis is not to be treated like there is a ceiling effect although normally when you are smoking it with tolerance that can prevent you from overdosing.
Eating spacecake though can make you feel like you're dying, and waiting until your tolerance is gone and then smoking a lot of dope can too I guess.

I have had sort of traumatic experiences with LSD + nitrous that really scared me so much that every time after I wanted to try it I got terrible fear.
What helped with that was MDMA actually, MDMA definitely removes fears and can be therapeutic like that although it can't be a life-time guaranteed fix.
If you are thinking about drug-assisted therapy then I think MDMA is a way better option than LSD.

While on the MDMA it is good to review those other experiences and try to relive / remember them a little to see what actually happened there so that you can process it.
After that seems to have helped (or it might just be a wonderful roll and that's about it) when he decides to try tripping again LSD may be an okay option, at least better than mushrooms and better than smoking more weed than you can handle.
Even better if you can get it is lighter psychedelics like 2C-B, 2C-C, perhaps 4-HO-DiPT, and start low (with LSD as well)!!

Benzo's are always good to have on hand with these sorts of things. Lorazepam is a good panic attack stopper but Diazepam or Alprazolam and many others work perfectly well too. Some are somewhat less suited though and can put you to sleep just as fast as helping your fear/anxiety.
BUT: don't take a benzo when shit gets just a little rough, that way you always go around the issue and there will hardly be anything therapeutic to speak of. And when it is time for a benzo, take half a dose at first rather than a whole one. It may take the edge off while still allow you to confront the experience.

If all these sorts of things don't work, tell your friend just not to trip again - it's that simple. If troubles with anxiety or panic possibly remain while sober then therapy is your best bet. And they might help you and if necessary medicate. Medication is generally not good unless/before serious therapy has been tried.

And HPPD is not the right term here, HPPD is when you see things like static and get other weird trippy effects without having taken something.
A much better term if you must use one would in my opinion be PTSD (or a mild case of it) caused by the ego-desintegrating effects of psychedelics; with the intense experiences he had with them.

It's true, and in this case here it's also partially true that taking more psychedelics isn't a great idea but like I just edited in my post the term HPPD is not applied correctly here I think.

smoking weed is what he doesn't want to do- maybe the shrooms were alright until he smoked the weed, something i have experienced myself

weed can shit on a trip and make it negative- it has done so nearly every time to me when i smoked it on acid/shrooms/mdma

Its my understanding that HPPD is caused by abusing psychs often. So really, dosing up another psych is going to make things worse. But then again you didnt mention anything about HPPD in your first post?

I agree with smoking weed on psychs. It's an easy way to turn a nice trip into a very dark/bad trip.

If hes going to dose LSD, dont smoke on it it's that simple. Keep a positive mind state through out the comeup and majority of the trip and there shouldnt be any problems. Make sure you got some benzo's on hand if a bad trip does happen.

Trust that if he does have a bad trip "hey when do i come down" wont be the only thing he says, or expresses on his face.

Set and setting is the key also!

Arite guys, thanks a bunch for your replies. Seems like only time can heal his mind from his bad trip.

He doesn't really have HPPD I guess, as in he's not hallucinating or feeling "shroomy" out of the blue, it only happens when he smokes some weed.

Also I think it's worth adding, even with alot of experience tripping alone on mushrooms can be pretty intense as the emotions are much more in your face and when your alone you being the user has to direct these emotions in a good way to keep a good mind state. I can see this turning disasterous for someone whose never really tryed psychs before.

LSD is kinda more neutral, and tripping around good mates on L will be a much different vibe and easier flowing then tripping alone on shrooms I garantee it.

just the title of this thread made me laugh. Thats like asking if you should try to put out a fire with gasoline.

HPPD never was the problem- he didn't like what happened when he mixed weed with shrooms__ not the same thing

if smoking pot is unenjoyable yet you are fine without it then you dont have HPPD-

how many people read the first post properly- skim readin the title is useless:\
