Will i see a decent government before i die?

He did. On video. And in print. Seriously, just do some research cos it’s all out there in living colour.

And as for more Labour? No thanks. There are literally no good choices amongst the three main parties. Time to reclaim Labour for the Left wing party it used to be.

You sure he didn't say something like " prepare for austerity" rather than actually wanting it as a policy or plan??

Very sure. Obviously I’m paraphrasing but he said that austerity wasn’t the problem with the economy: the problem was that austerity hadn’t been taken far enough.

I’m not making it up - he said it during a video interview sometime around the recent local elections down south. So you can’t even call it an outdated policy.

Farage is like a shit Malcom Maclaren - anyone taken in by his shit swindle deserves the consequences. This man of the people performance is pantomime level

(much love for the Pistols though, natch)

At least McLaren had some genuine talent and anti-establishment values. Farage is nothing but a Poundland Trump. Like shit… only shitter.

The other two mainstream parties are only a fag paper better, mind. I’d honestly put Labour to the right of the fukkin Tories atm. Sickening. The Left is basically non-existent right now. We are truly fukked :|

Will need to see this 🤮

If the left get in we are also totally fukked. Be careful what you wish for

The Left gave us everything great about this country.

40 hour work week? Left
NHS? Left
Social Security? Left
Pensions? Left
The supposed “Golden Age” of the 50s? Left

I could go on. And on. And on. I can honestly see nothing of value that has ever come from the right. And the state of the nation now after decades of right-wing governments is evidence enough of that fact.

Could argue it was the left that lead to immigration being out of control. Also what's good about the 40 hour week? 37 is plenty

There hasn’t been a left wing government since the 70s. Seems to me the immigration issues are more recent than that.

Would a left wing government have done any better on immigration? I’d say there’s a decent chance they would..

The Left has a focus on providing local services. If these had remained funded rather than decimated under Thatcherism maybe immigrant communities could have been better managed and thusly less of a bugbear to Little Englanders. Maybe.

The Issue is @Shambles that you are playing THEIR Game, Left or Right makes NO Difference as it's The Game of The System & you are playing it.
You play another persons game you are getting Played ;)

I STAND 100% Firm in the Anarcho-libertarianism view of The World & "System"

When you speak of "The Left" I assume you are well aware of Figures like Emiliano Zapata, Francisco "Pancho" Villa & let me toss in Pol Pot too.
I cannot wait to see if you TRY to Defend the actions of Zapata.

I can PROMISE you "The Left" as one example in the form of The Zapatista Army of National Liberation have done FUCK ALL in South Mexico, go figure Sir ;)

You've not exactly been a contributing factor to the NHS, social security, pension etc yourself now have you? Certainly had your hand out though.

I have never mentioned armed revolutionaries of either the Left or the Right because I have no time for either. I in no way support authoritarianism of any kind.

I simply speak of plain old Centre Left Democratic Socialism of the kind that made this country great. Nothing more, nothing less. Using Pol Pot or Stalin or similar authoritarian regimes as examples is no different from equating support for the Tories or Reform as tantamount to supporting Hitler or Franco. Simply incorrect and frankly irrelevant.

And to your final point, again I am talking specifically about Democratic Socialism in the context of British history. Other countries have very different histories and face very different problems. Again, irrelevant.

FWIW, I’ve worked 9h night shifts as an industrial cleaner whilst attending college full time during the day. I’ve worked 12h night shifts in industrial freezers. I’ve worked in the fields picking vegetables. I’ve gotten up at 5am to work in kitchens. I’ve worked various hospitality, factory, warehouse and logistics jobs. All long hours, all hard physical labour.

I’ve also worked for many years volunteering in the local community - including old peoples’ homes for Alzheimer’s patients which is pretty fukkin tough on the emotional front let alone the physical labour…

But you raise a valid point in that I have also taken much from our Social Security safety net. What have I done to address this? Every job I’ve ever had I voluntarily paid the higher rate of income tax because I knew I’d be dipping into Social Security more than most. Does that balance the books? Nope. But my conscience is clear insofar as I’ve done what I could to contribute wherever possible.

However, this thread is not about me and my CV. It is about our political overlords and which poison we should pick. I say again, Democratic Socialism - centre left politics - are the best hope we have to improve our lives and those of our fellow citizens.
