Benzos Will I have bad withdrawals?

Hey guys,

I have severe panic anxiety, agoraphobia, panic attacks, social anxiety, etc. I am prescribed 8mg, and for bad days with my anxiety, 10mg of Xanax XR. I have been taking this dose for a while now, and I've always used benzos theraputically.

Anyways, for the past 3 days some of my buddys from college have been in town, and they are not the best influence to say the least. Anyways, they brought a shit load of IR Xanax and we were having fun partying for the last 3 days. That's when the shit hit the fan, and they were taking shitloads of benzos and so was I. I am embarassed to say it but I probably averaged about 25mg of Xanax a day spread out through out the three days. Now, I didn't black out or anything and we didn't drink, so I didn't get myself into any problems.

The worry that I have is that when I go back tomorrow on my 8-10mgs of Xanax XR will I be okay, or will I have seriouls withdrawals. I hope the 3 days of higher dosages didn't get me addicted to that or where I will have some sort of withdrawals or seizures. Can someone please help me out with this? What does everyone think?

This has been the very first time (and last) I have used benzos other than theraputically for my terrible anxiety. I am sooo pissed at myself for taking part in that with my friends. Now I know those dosages are extremely high, but it was just for 3 days. My friends are gone and I will continue to go back to my 8-10mg of Xanax XR tomorrow.

Okay guys, I know I screwed up, and I know this is a harm reduction sight, so just please let me know what I should expect. Could seizures still happen even though I'm on the xanax xr 10mg? Could I possibly have saved myself from hellish WDs because it was just for 3 days??

Please, anyone with advice, imput, things to look for, anything at all, please let me know. I really appreciate any and all advice, and this harm reduction site is great.

I would seriously doubt that your tolerance has jumped from 10mg to 25mg in three days, enough to still cause seizures while taking 10mg.

I would say you're most likely fine. Xanax has a short half life in comparison to other benzo's, and especially when taken in the IR form. I would think that you should be in relatively good shape, and honestly doubt anything would happen.

So basically you're saying that my 25mg dosage for 3 days is not going to cause me to become addicted or tolerant to that amount? Now, if it were over a week or longer your answer may be different I assume. When I go back to my 8-10mg of xanax xr (tomorrow will most likely be 10 because of this) you don't think I will feel any real effects? You know you are one smart dude because you have helped me a lot on a few of my other threads I had posted yesterday or the day before. You are a big help to keeping things safe around here.

Yea, I would think you're just overly worried. There's no real way to say well 3 days is ok, but 7 isn't, but regardless it seems like you should be fine. Happy 2 help

Yea, I know there is really no official amount of days you can put on it before you become tolerant. I'm still worried , but you really think I won't have any issues at all?

are xanax xr different than regular xanax pills? i thought xanx was prescribed in .25 mg, .50mg, 1mg, and 2mg bars?

so you take 5 xanax bars a day equalling 10mg? but this weekend you took 12 1/2 bars equalling 25mg?

am i missing something? that seems like a lot of xanax.

Yes, my daily dose of Xanax Xr is between 8-10mgs(I have a very high tolerance unfortunately). Xanax XR is Xanax, but it is an extended release version of it. An immediate release Xanax lasts about 3 hours, but the XR Xanax has a half life of about 12. With the XR version, you don't have the interdosal anxiety that some people have with the IR version.

Like I wrote before, I have never used my benzos other than for the theraputic value of them to help my severe anxiety. But over the past 3 days some of my old college buddies came down and brought a lot of xanax IR, and I ended up doing about 25mg of it per day for 3 days. Yes, it was stupid as hell and I'm pissed at myself for doing it.

Tomorrow, I am going to go back to my usual dosage of 8-10mgs of xanax xr, and hopefully I won't have any wd symptoms. I don't think a 3 day binge could make me tolerant to such a high dose. Good thing it was only 3 days and not a month or so. Good thing I don't use heroin or other opiates/opioids because that would be a recipe for disaster. I didn't mix the xanax with any alcohol either, that too could have yielded terrible consequences.

wow i didn't realize they made an ER version. are you able to break the time release on these and get all the xanax at once?
either way 25mg of xanax is a lot. but it shouldn't effect you that much if you only did it for a few days. when i was using xanax it seemd like a week of continued use would put me into the WD zone. i would get a bottle of 120 1mg pills and be out within a week. and i wouldn't remember some of those days durring that week.

Yes, they do make an XR version, it's been out a while. It's not something that is talked a whole lot about because you can't break the time realease formulation to make it IR. They just gel up if you chew them. The manufacturers made it nearly impossible to bypass the XR.

I've heard on this forum that there are ways to break the time release using some high proof alcohol, but I don't know all the details. If you really wanted to find out you can use the search engine here on Bluelight.
