I am prescribed norco 10/325 and I am wondering if I will develop an addiction if I will only be taking 1 each night. I was in an accident recently and I will probably have to take pain meds for a month or two. Will just 10mg of hydrocodone each night, for lets say a month, cause me problems if i stop taking it cold turkey? I cant really taper since its just one pill so will i notice any withdrawal symptoms if i take 1 everyday?

If you take it every day for a month you'll certainly notice some symptoms when you discontinue. How bad or not bad they will be, that's hard to say, but they probably won't be very bad...

Everyone is different, but generally the usage of 10mg of hydrocodone once per night over 30 days would result in very little physical addiction, if any at all.

I think the worst effect you would feel from stopping such a dose would be, if anything, some insomnia for one or two nights.

Taking opiates once per day, IME, leads to less withdrawal then when one takes the same dose but split it into two doses twice or more a day.

Yep. My opiate addiction started out with a 60x5/500 Vicodin script. I went through it in less than a month mixed with large amounts of alcohol

Just be careful, what CitioKid says is on-point IMO.

You can still taper on your own. Just because you are prescribed 1 pill a day does not mean you have to take it. Split some pills in half and take 5mg for a week before you stop.

^^^^ Buy a pill cutter at your local drug store. As you come to your last week of use, start cutting the pills in half and as you get closer to finishing or stopping try taking a day off in between half pill days. Discontinuing at that jumping off point will be much easier, although your likely to suffer some mild insomnia/stomach issues. Maybe try quitting over a weekend so you allow yourself the free days over the course of a weekend to feel better.

You're likely to only experience minor symptoms for 2-3 days. Good luck

That dosage amount and frequency is very responsible, don't worry yourself too much. When people talk about "opiate withdrawal" they usually mean at least 30-40mg+ hydrocodone a day.

I'll add my +1 to not worrying about it. Dependence can and likely will occur to some extent with 30 days of regular use, but withdrawal would be so mild that it wouldn't matter. If you are concerned, hold back 4 pills when you stop taking them. If you find discontinuation to be too much for you, take a pill, then cut a couple in half, and one in quarters. Take half a pill for 4 days, then a quarter for 4 days. But honestly, I wouldn't think you'd need to resort to a taper.

Yea I doubt they will feel any withdrawals, other than maybe a little restless legs, and a little sleep trouble for a night or two.

OP, don't be expecting withdrawal or hyping it up. A lot of withdrawal is mental. I just kicked a long habit (well I'm on day 5 of withdrawal so almost over) and keeping busy is what helped the most. Yesterday morning I was laying around feeling shitty, thinking about all my symptoms, etc, and then I got up and did yard work, cleaned my room, did laundry, and I felt so much better. I had been using mostly 3-4 days a week since August, and my lowest dose was usually 60mg of oxycodone or 1 bag of heroin, so you should be fine.

Just go about yours after your last pills like they are any other days. As a precaution, I would recommend taking your last dose on a Thursday, so that if you feel any withdrawal it will be over the weekend (the peak is usually 3 days after you last dose). That is of course unless you work weekends, in which case try to plan it out differently to accomodate your schedule.

Like everybody else said, physical addiction will be minimal. The thing you have to worry about is when you decide you like the way they feel and start looking for more. Don't look for more.

I had some discomfort after that kind of dose but nothing severe. Trouble going to sleep, mild irritability.

Taking ONE a day instead of 5,6,7,10 a day is the hard part.

Dependence and addiction are separate issues. The distinction is fine but important. Dependence will occur with regular use. Addiction can occur after a single dose, depending on your psychological bent.
