Hi

I have smoked weed every night for about 2-3 weeks. Now; I'm going abroad where I will not have access to weed. So, will I have difficulty sleeping when not having my pipe around? If I'm looking at insomnia, I might have to be creative

Also, it's not alot of weed I have been smoking, maybe 1.5 grams the last two weeks, but it is a every-night habit

Best regards, the Cannabis novice ;)

i think you'll be fine. you'd have a problem if you were smoking like a gram every day or something but if you do have trouble sleeping take a benadryl or two and you will be fine i'm sure.

You might have a problem falling asleep the first couple of nights, but it should go away after a few days. If you can't fall asleep, try >1mg of Melatonin. If you can't buy Melatonin in whichever country you're going to, you shouldn't have a problem bringing some with in your luggage.

I can't get my hands in Melatonin in my country, so I'll go with the benadryl. Good thing I thought about this, and getting good replies :) I'll only be away for 3 days, so it would really suck not being able to sleep that time.

Alcohol will also be consumed, so the benadryl-alcohol combo should do the trick :)

I had been toking regularly, daily, for the past 12-15 months and just quit last Wednesday. I have been having some badass dreams, every night at least one dream, often more like two or three. I almost forgot about dreams I hadn't had one for that long.
Just picked up and started reading 'The Interpretation Of Dreams' by Freud again, it's probably not helping haha.
Mitchi, if worst comes to worst you can always just get blotto on beers. Beer usually makes me sleepy, that is unless you are going to the middle east, but if you were going to the middle east you wouldn't have a problem. Good luck, and sweet dreams.

This thread has been done a lot, use the search engine or check out the MEGA directory (found in my sig and top of the CD page) to find discussion about this.

It will largely depend on yourself and we cannot predict if you will be one of those to experience these slight withdrawal symptoms, though they are very common.

I suggest buying some cough syrup or something, like the new ZZZQuil (Nyquil's legit only-for-sleep cough syrup!). That should get you through any rough spots you may have for a few days.

I'll let this float for a bit before closing it, as it has been done to death but perhaps it's been long enough to warrant another.

Let's not derail it however. Keep to the OP's content.

If I were in your shoes, OP, the only issue I could see arising for myself is being kept awake at night because I want to smoke. I have a ridiculous time quieting down my thoughts at the end of the day, and without a little aid (whether it be a nightcap, a sleep aid like diphenhydramine or a nice and long session) I'll lay awake for a good hour or two before I drift away.

Personally, I feel like that's a psychological issue that causes a physical one (loss of sleep), so I wouldn't label it an "addiction," but.... well... that truthfully sounds a lot like addict-speak to me so I dunno.... /tangent

You should be fine. Just enjoy what I'm assuming is an overseas vacation and, if you're anything like me on a vacation, you'll probably wear yourself out naturally by the end of every day.

Alcohol will also be consumed, so the benadryl-alcohol combo should do the trick :)

Should be fine, might not even need the Benadryl. I will tell you that I do sometimes crave weed (I am not a regular smoker anymore but was for years) when I am hungover though. However, without the ability to access weed it should be easier.

Alcohol is terrible for sleep! I'd get some valerian capsules or go with the diphenhydramine (benadryl).

Melatonin is not like traditional sleeping pills in that it isn't a sedative, however if you take a small dose in the evening it can help you drift off to sleep. It's particularly useful for people that don't have trouble sleeping once they're asleep but have difficulty in drifting off. I think there has been some research to suggest cannabis has an effect on melatonin production, which may be partly why it helps some people to get to sleep if they smoke before bed. Taking small doses of melatonin may therefore help if you're quitting, although it's also worth saying that larger doses will be counterproductive - less is more.

But as with anyone, I just think you should suck it up and get it over with as you'll adjust very quickly since it's a very minor problem is the scheme of things.

You will probably have trouble sleeping, but you should probably just try to do a strenuous exercise during the day that will in turn make you tired at night. It's a lot better than benadryl, which has a very pronounced hangover effect.

You might, you might not. I know that when I stop smoking for a bit (and prior I'm normally on a couple months with rarely skipping a day) I generally cannot get to sleep that easy.

Melatonin, valerian root, DXM/doxylamine, diphenhydramine. Doubt you'd really need benzos.
