I have been prescribed benzos since 04 and not only have I taken them daily but I also took more then my regual dosage. I have been taking 4mg/day clonazepam since 2004 like I said plus I get other benzos since clonazepam doesn't work anymore it hardly does anything to me but other benzos seem to work better at an equivalent dose of couse. If I take 2mg alprazolam instead of 2mg clonazepam I feel it however I am much more tolerant to benzos than most benzo users.

Will gabapentin work if one is tolerant to benzos this bad?

Another thing I noticed is with the z-drugs, like Imovane or Ambien. I used to be able to take 7.5mg Imovane (zopiclone), before 2004 of course, and get so fucked that I would hallucinate, metallic taste (horrible) and now I need 40mg (honestley)

p.s. When I say im tolerant to benzos its no joke I remeber when 15mg temazepam or 0.5mg clonazepam got me FADED but now not even 150mg temazepam doesn't do shit but hardly put me to sleep.

I just wanted to tell u an experience I had. GABA is an antiseizure med and it actually caused to have seizures for a month I would just fall down and get right back up but not know I had fallen or why, finally figured out it was the gabapentin.

It's funny because I've experienced the same thing with clonazepam compared to other benzo's. At first I like clonazepam a lot. It's great, lasts a long time, etc.. However. After you build up a tolerance, the effects seem to plateau after a certain dosage, which for me is around 6mg. OECD I've built up a tolerance to the point where taking 6mg no longer provides satisfying anxiolytic effects, it seems that I can no longer get anything out of any dose of clonazepam, even if I double it and take 12mg at one time.. Oddly enough, I can usually then take 1/2 the equipotent ammount of alprazolam (which would be 3mg of Xanax since they ARE pretty much equally potent mg/mg), and feel overly "benzo'd" out.

Anyway, in regards to you question, gabapentin should still work perfectly fine for you as it is not cross tolerant with Benzodiazepine's. The reason you now need to take 40mg of Zolpidem is that Z-drugs, like benzo's, bind to the GABA A receptor, and are cross tolerant with each other. Gabapentin actual mechanism of action is not really well known, but it is thought to not actually bind to GABA A or B, but instead it's effects are the result of interactions with calcium channels.
