Opioids will benzos lower opioid tolerance?

If someone usually takes 60mg of oxycodone, would they feel the effects of 30mgs if it is combined with 4mgs of xanax? I don't know if they potentiate eachother in any way or if adding the xanax would affect the oxy buzz in any way. Thanks everyone!
 
Benzos enhance the sedating effects of opioids. They do NOT reduce opioid tolerance.

Xanax (and other benzos) do increase the "nod" of opioids but again, they don't do anything in regards to tolerance.
 
thanks for the quick reply...so ultimately, if 30mgs does not usually give the desired results, would it be worth it to take with the xanax? will the increased nod effect be significant enough? i realize this varies on a person-to-person basis, but generally speaking, what is your opinion?

I wouldn't add benzos with opiates, in the spirit of Harm reduction. If you must try I would dose low on the benzo, and take half your normal dose of opiates. Remember with the opiates you can always do more. But once you combine benzos into the mix, its hard to tell.

You'll get to know your tolerance and do's and dont's if you play the 'game' long enough.

I used to dose 4-5mgs of Xanax, and close to 200mgs of oxy spread over an hour at my peak. Ive toned it all down.
 
4mgs of xanax with 30mgs of oxy is over doing it. Try 1mg of xanax with 30mgs of oxy first.

10mgs of hydrocodone doesnt do much for me anymore as far as getting me high but adding 1/2 mg of ativan will definitely give me a good buzz so you dont need to add all that xanax, start low with benzos when combining with opiates...............
