mmkay, so ive been hearing about these next generations and have decided i might give em a shot. I dont think i want a ps3 because of the price, and that there arent any geames out yet that interest me. So i was wondering if anyone could give me a list of Pros and Cons regarding the Wii and the Xbox, and maybe how you like the system you bought.

360 is awesome, though the interface is really tough to figure out at first, loading profiles and shit gets complicated, but there are shitloads of great games and you'll be able to play HALO 3! :D

haven't played the wii but from what I hear the more "adult" oriented games (like call of duty 3) are not nearly as fun to play with the motion controllers as they are with a standar xbox controller, and I think I would get sick of having to move my arms all the time pretty quick haha.

as lazy as that sounds I play video games to move and think as little as possible and when I'm trying to unwind the last thing i want to have to do is swing my video game controller like a golf stick 400 times :D

^agreed

People play games to unwind and be lazy. Moving around is the last thing I feel like doing. America could use this though.

I wouldn't buy a Wii because I know I would not be able to play it stoned.

Last night sat up with a few mates, smoking weed, playing Super Mario & James Bond on the N64

No, it isn't. They are inherently different video game consoles with similar target markets but far different goals. If you had done even the slightest amount of research on your own you would realize this.

i'm getting a wii next week (by exchanging all my ps2 shit for it)
and am asking my mate to sell his 360 which he never uses, since a recent update has made it finally predominantly reverse compatable.

i expect the 360 to shit on the wii graphics wise, but the wii to be a lot more fun.

the ps3 will inevitably come down in price in about a year, which may coincide with the release of GTA4

When I played the Xbox 360 I didn't see any groundbreaking new gameplay or ideas. It's just an updated version of the Xbox. However, it is still updated and has great graphics. I didn't get excited about the Xbox 360 though for exactly that reason.

However, the Wii is really trying something new with the controllers and I count on them to have titles that really integrate the controller to create totally new gameplay experiences. The graphics aren't as good but I think graphics have been good enough for years now.

I really don't play consoles much and havn't cared about them since I stopped playing the N64 when I was like 12.

The Wii really interests me though because it's fun to play in groups. Moreso than even normal consoles are because of the motion aspect of the game. I never play consoles alone and I got the Wii specifically for group play when friends are over because I think it's a better social console.

So, I'd say.. if you want it a console that you can play alone and get really into the virtual environments and such an Xbox 360 might be better for you. However, if you'd rather play with friends and get into the social dynamic of kicking your friend's asses then I'd get a Nintendo Wii. The xbox still offers multiplayer and the wii still offers single player but I really feel they do one area better than another.

Just buy both and return one of them while you still can for a full refund. Hell, if you could get a Nintendo Wii right now you could get $400+ easily on eBay so I'd get one if you can find it anyway.

I haven't tried to wii yet, and I'm not sure I want too. The 360 kicks ass. I'm still waiting for the ps3 to drop in price before i decide to invest in any though. They should make a ddr for the wii, that would be something, where you gotta make hand movements too.

Uhhhh haha yea. It's still comparing video game consoles....Like comparing apples and oranges would be comparing two fruits. Get off your high horse goal boy. I happen to like oranges a lot more btw. :)

How am I on a high horse? 8(

Yes, you're right, they're obviously video game consoles on a basic level, but still very, very different. Is it really that hard to comprehend?

What really needs to happen for the Wii is real time monitor capture of the wiimote in games. Right now you make a motion with the wiimote and it's like pressing a button where it triggers a specific action in the game.

For example when fighting with swords instead of being able to move the wiimote a certain way to make my sword do a certain thing I should be able to move the wiimote in anyway I want and the sword should follow it exactly with the game handling collision detection. This way you could literally have a sword fight on the Wii instead of just getting to trigger specific moves already in the game.

I'm hoping in two years these are the kinds of games Wii will have to offer.

I don't understand how everyone is saying having to move the controller around will make you tired and that you're too lazy to do that. When I play console games with my friends were already jumping around and moving and screaming at each other. The wiimote just feeds the energy. All I'm worried about is someone getting knocked out when people start throwing these at each other over a game of Madden.

im not reading anything in this forum, i scrolled immediately down to post my response after reading this title. this forum should be closed for such an obvious answer

360!!!

( shakes head)

^Hey, now that is some great input. 8)

Kul69 has done a good job outlining the differences between the two consoles. It really comes down to the kind of games you want to play.

not very hard to compare -- Wii: souped-up Gamecube offering nothing new but a really shitty RF controller (really just a fancy TV remote.)

360: a graphics-geared mini computer with HD DVD addon available for less than half the price of a standalone player.

Starting back with the N64, Nintendo has surrendered it's crown over the video-game world because they somehow completely lack the intelligence required to determine that the next generation of gamers aren't looking to blow tonnes of money just so they can play the newest Zelda. People who buy video game consoles these days aren't even gamers... Since the day that cartridge consoles became obsolete the actual gamers have been switching to computers that they can customize to best suit their favorite game and it's a lot easier to play a computer game online than to connect a console to the net. Nintendo's still out there trying to draw gamers who all have systems that could DWARF the Wii many times over in performance, when the people actually looking to buy consoles nowadays aren't gamers, they're just normal people who want to play Halo and watch HD DVDs. Personally, Nintendo is fucking retarded for even releasing the Wii. At least they won't be losing money considering how cheap it is to make and given that most of the R&D required for that joke of a console has already been done years ago

So if you're not all about the best graphics and the fastest system, then you're not a gamer? Give me a break.

well first of all, PC takes precedence to any console but that wasn't part of the question so...

Personally I own a 360 and it's a solid choice assuming you have broadband and the PC equivalent of the 360 would be substantially more costly.

Haven't played the Wii yet. I have some interest in it but definately need to try out the controler before I make an investment. It just seems like the waving the controller around style of play could be just a gimmick and prove to be repetitive.

The only reason I'd buy a PS3 at this point(pretending for a second that it was available, which it isn't)is if Socom 2 was remade. Not 3 or 4, which sucked.
