Why you smiling son? Version Abe Froman, the sausage king of New York

Eh, i dunno. Wiki defines Agnosticism as follows:

Agnosticism (Greek: α- a-, without + γνώσις gnōsis, knowledge; after Gnosticism) is the philosophical view that the truth value of certain claims — particularly metaphysical claims regarding theology, afterlife or the existence of God, gods, deities, or even ultimate reality — is unknown or, depending on the form of agnosticism, inherently unknowable due to the nature of subjective experience perceived by that individual.

I think the difference is that Atheist's blatantly refuse to believe in God, religion or some higher power. Being Agnostic is some what acknowledging that there may be something up there but as the wiki states, it is simply unknowable.

Thats the way i look at it anyway.

I kind of agree with a point Dawkins makes in that it's impossible to completely disprove the existence of a god at this point in our universal understanding, but it doesn't seem likely. Therefore atheist not agnostic.

We could go on forever, but the way i look at it, Agnostic's have an open view on religion. They don't believe in it yet they don't disprove it. Atheists to my understanding do not buy religion at all.

Anyway, 'nuff said on my behalf.

I'm smiling because in less than 20 days I get to explore a brand new city. I may be the only person in Brisbane wearing shorts in the middle of Autumn. ;):D

I'm not smiling at all of this religion based chat - get out and make a new thread fuckers. :p

^ Brisbane has the highest density of Macdonalds resturants per capita out of every city in the world :D I used to walk past 3 of them on my way to Uni when I was living there.

Its a cool city :)

I'm smiling because its my birthday, and I got cake and presents =D

But most of all I'm smiling because I was woken up this morning with a ph from someone special who is not here at the moment... and I cried happy happy tears just to hear their voice. <3

Even tho I'm another year older, it twas a great day :D

It's the non-belief in religion as a whole, not just "God".

Eh, not necessarily...

Atheism
Atheism, as an explicit position, either affirms the nonexistence of gods or rejects theism. When defined more broadly, atheism is the absence of belief in deities, alternatively called nontheism. Although atheism is often equated with irreligion, some religious philosophies, such as secular theology and some varieties of Buddhism such as Theravada, either do not include belief in a personal god as a tenet of the religion, or actively teach nontheism.

Theism
Theism is the belief in the existence of one or more divinities or deities. There is also a narrower sense in which theism refers to the belief that one or more divinities are immanent in the world, yet transcend it, along with the idea that divinity(s) is/are omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent. Theism contrasts with nontheism, the state of not believing in deities.

Nontheism
Nontheism is a term that covers a range of both religious and nonreligious attitudes characterized by the absence of—or the rejection of—theism or any belief in a personal god or gods. It is in use in the fields of Christian apologetics and general liberal theology. "Nontheism" should not be confused with "irreligion."

Non-theism has various types. Atheism or "strong atheism" is the positive belief that a god does not exist. Someone who does not think about the existence of a deity may be termed "weakly atheistic." Other, more qualified types of nontheism are often known as agnosticism. "Strong" or "positive" agnosticism is the belief that it is impossible for humans to know whether or not any deities exist. It is a more precise opinion than weak agnosticism, which is the belief that the existence or nonexistence of any deities is unknown but not necessarily unknowable.

I could personally not believe in God, label myself Atheist, but still see a value in religion or religious teachings, thus I wouldn't really be rejecting "religion as a whole", but would still technically be Atheist.

^Haha, this would be kayaking in Caloundra. I don't do stinky inner-city rivers. ;)

A friend of mine went jet-skiing in the Brisbane river (crazy f**ker) and fell off, taking a tiny bit of water in. He was sick for a week.

I've also seen a dead cow floating along the river. Naaice.
