i was like alot of other people on here. i was told a thousand times that shooting pills was bad for you and very dangerous. and, much like most of you, i completely ignored all warnings. i have injected hundreds, if not thousands of pills and always believed peoples warnings to be a bunch of bullshit. recently, a pea sized lump on my bicep quickly turned into something the size of a golfball and, for the first time, i listened to the bluelighters warnings and recomendations and sought medical attention. first, i went to a nearby walk-in-clinic where they very painfully sliced open my bicep and drained out, to me, what looked like a gallon of pusy fluid. i thought that the worst was behind me. i was wrong! two days later the pain was so intense that i couldn't help but cry. knowing that something was wrong, i went to the emergency room. they immediately admitted me. the abscess in my arm had become infected. it was a very serious staff infection. i spent four hellish days and nights in the hospitol. two surgeries later i am left with a gaping hole in my arm and two drainage tubes (which are latex hoses embedded in my bicep) that are to be removed in yet another surgery on friday. i was fortunate. the surgeon let me know how close i was to losing my arm. it was and is the most painful and traumatic experience of my life. i know its hard, once you are set in your ways, to let someone elses horror story affect you. i know that, like myself, most people think that "it will never happen to me". do what you want with this information, but take it from someone with first hand experience "shooting pills is just not worth it". they high last about ten minutes, i was informed that most of the veins in my upper arms have closed and stopped working and when they say that you could lose an arm, its not bullshit!

I'm sorry to hear about how this turned out for you but i would like to be the first to highly commend you in that you came on to bluelight and chose to make an example of yourself in order to save others from doing the same thing.

Your attitude towards harm reduction displayed in this post should be an example to us all

That´s rough. I´m so sorry to hear that.

In the end are you going to be recover or is amputation still a possibility?

May I ask you if either a)the doctor asked you how this happened (and if they did ask you, did you tell them the truth?) or by looking at the lump did they already know what it was.

Also, was this pea-sized lump on you arm initially the result of a missing a vein while shooting up, or did the lump just suddenly appear without the result of a missed shot?

Lastly, what pills in general did you shoot up and what pill were you injecting if the lump appeared as the result of a missed shot?

In either case, I sincerely hope that you recover and offer you my best wishes.

wow, I'm really sorry to hear about this man. I hope this thread gets more attention, as it is unreal how many people don't take this fact seriously. I get about 2 messages a month that people talk about shooting adderall. I seriously cannot get through to these people how bad it is for your vascular system, etc. Hopefully a few of them will read this and get the picture :\

My best of wishes to you, I'm assuming they didn't hook you up with any good meds for your pain :p dirty fuckers

a full recovery is expected, but considering the seriousness of the infection, i guess anything could happen.

the doctor asked how it happened. i was completly honest even though they already knew what the cause was by the many tracks on my arms.

it was a result of missing my shot of oxycodone. it started out as an abscess which later turned in to a staff infection called MRSA or mercer.

i dont have any personal experience in the area, but i dont need any to be able to confidently say

DONT SHOOT PILLS PEOPLE!

im sure that your thread will open at least one persons eyes who wouldnt have been other wise and for that i thank you.

yeah thank you, that definitely opened my eyes, i just recently started shooting heroin and don't know why i did it seeing every time i was about to do it i nearly cried having so much anxiety but loved it once it had been over and done with, since then ive been thinking about shooting OC's but reading this made my final decision not to.. thanks, and hope everything works out

I have never done that, and thanks for sharing your story, its things like that, people would rather not hear the truth, but to post a picture with a story, it does make you consider that it could happen to anyone, like you said.

I hope you get better.
i hope im not getting to personal but are you stilling shooting anything?

right now i am just taking my presciption meds, as prescribed. i am a firm believer in fate and karma. i believe that everything happens for a reason. i'm getting married a week from saturday and i think that this was gods way of telling me that i needed to stop what i was doing or else i'm sure my marriage would have suffered the consequences. my bride to be was unaware that i had started shooting up again. this has been a true test of our love for each other, or her love for me. she stood by me in my time of need, but assured me that she would not do it a second time. god works in mysterious ways and he has certainly opened my eyes. whatever god's reasons were, the infection was still a result of injecting pills.

Yes, maybe that was the only way that you have quit. God has a reason for everything, hang in there, and congrats on getting married, im getting married myself and my boyfriend is almost done with a 90 rehab from crack, so im very excited, we both have God in our lives and without him I think you have a hard time staying clean. Im proud of you!
