Why would anyone do MPDV or MDPV Which is Bath Salt?

MDPV is a rather new drug that mimics the effects of cocaine, and in some ways methamphetamine. The label "bath salt" is just pretend, so that the drug can be sold legally in stores as a product "not for human consumption". People do it, or did it at least, because it was legal at the time, and got them high in a similar fashion that cocaine gets its user high.

Why does anyone use any drug, use your brain?

As pbuilder mentioned, they are not actual bath salts meant for putting in a bath - real bath salts are various salts such as epsom salts or dead sea salts, often with fragrance. Whereas the drug "bath salts" are just called that because the drugs in them are not legal for human consumption, so if they pretend it is a bath salt they can get away with selling them - although many of the drugs in these "bath salts" are now being outlawed in some countries. Also "bath salts" can contain a number of different drugs, not just MDPV. It can be dangerous because you don't always know what you are getting, plus these drugs are new and we don't know about all the risks yet.

As to why people would want to do it, the same reason most people do any drug, because they are hoping for a pleasurable effect. Not really sure what else can be said in this thread, if you'd like more info on MDPV you can do a search for it.

I would love to know how many people actually ate or snorted real bath salts due to this media coverage.

MDPV is perhaps more apt than methamphetamine or cocaine at producing psychotic symptoms

it works the same way as methylphenidate, yet is about four times as potent

people who've tried this drug and other more conventional illegal stimulants suggest that MDPV carries one of the worst side effect profiles

Yep. MDPV (and it is MDPV, not MPDV) is bad stuff, I have no idea why people do it.

I'm closing this thread - I see no HR question here.

PM me if you have any questions.
