Why would adderall do this if I was sober?! Theories?

So I basically never know what effect I am going to get when I take my dosages for the day. Some days are smoother than others. I do not potentiate.
60 mg xr in morning. With occasional 30mg for School.

The whole day runs smoothly, as doses take effect, in between releases, and as effects disappear.
(Usual dose is 60mg xr around 7, and often, 30mg xr at 1pm. It wears off though by the end of the day, and I sit around and do my evening thing with my husband and relax. Sometimes have a little anxiety.

This is where my questions and curiosity/concerns come in to play, more or less. Actually, it's more so a concern because I fucking hate it.

Some nights I am too restless. I just stay up. By 8 am, if I have no feeling of fatigue...and let's face it, I'm not going to sleep at 8am to waste a whole day....I will just take my morning dose.

I will take 60mg xr. That's all I need for a whole day. All I want. All I care for. I don't want to be high, I just want to carry out my day and make up for my shitbag brain deciding to have the random insomnia. This is where I start to be confused though....

this dose really is something straight from hell. Hits after an hour and feels like butt. My chest is locked up. I don't have tingly feelings everywhere, I have heat needles all over. Covering my collarbone and neck. If I lay down it goes to my face. It feels kinda interesting, don't get me wrong, but coupled with my inability to breathe at times, and the impending sensation that my heart might have just turned to stone, I really don't care how cool it feels, I just want it to stop so I can go to Barnes and noble and get my blasted cognitive self help workbooks. I didn't decide to stay awake for this.

I am confused when this happens. I hadn't taken a dose since 1pm the previous day...it's been gone for almost 12 hours, counting the hour after ingestion. This has happened twice before. The only thing I can think of it being is that after 24 hours of being sober or not, the heart basically is finished for? I can't find any other explanation for this very strange reaction. I feel completely fine. I don't feel bad in any way. It's the same as any morning, Except that I didn't sleep.

It reminded me of the time I abused it really bad like an idiot.....the same feeling that one gets when those unfortunate heavy chest, tingly arm, heart pounding, gut wrenching dreaded episodes happen, ever so fucking conveniently right after you decided to take one last dose, before calling it a day. That feeling of regret is instant.
Great, now You have to lay around and die for 5 hours. Cancel all plans for the evening.
And that's why I don't take it like that anymore.

Anyone know if it's just sleep as the issue even though I feel fine and the meds have been out of my system 12 hours or sometimes even more? Wtf...
Or, are the levels of the adderall the day before still all built up because of lack of sleep? Why would one dose that I am used to, feel like I went on a crazy 2 day bender, dosing every 8 hours..

Thoughts? Please, tell me. I know sleep is probably a culprit. But I want to know why it's doing this?

basically, this is what is happening in your body and mind: you're taking a highly potent central nervous system stimulant which kicks pretty much every function you have into overdrive, and as you're taking an XR capsule, this stimulant is being constantly maintained in the body at a high dose over the course of the morning, day and evening. so, you've put the body into overdrive and then when it comes to bed time you're not sleeping. so you're lying awake in bed all night, your body still working in overdrive, not to such an extent as it was earlier, in fact now your body is slowly starting to return to a normal/tired level so that you can sleep - which is absolutely vital while on stimulants. however, instead of sleeping you're awake, wriggling around in bed i presume, your body is actually actively burning calories and getting frustrated as it is not able to rest after being in a state of working twice as hard as it should. now, you take your next dose. your body is tired. you've just introduced that potent central nervous system stimulant once again to the body. this time it's working at 3x the rate it should be, as it does what it does best - kicks in the most extreme type of fight or flight response due to a stressor being placed onto it at a time when it should be resting.

your neurotransmitters are completely depleted from yesterday. yet you're flooding them once again with an artificial source, and your body just can't handle it, so it goes into protection mode and tries to make sure that you don't burn out. it's dangerous what you're doing, as not only are you depriving yourself from sleep, you're then forcing your body to perform. imagine this - you're tired and you go to bed, every time you fall asleep someone wakes you up with a large banging noise. mentally how would you feel? for a little bit you'd tolerate it, but you would be agitated, annoyed, angry etc. if it were to continue, you'd eventually just pass out and wouldn't be able to be woken up as you would just shut down. it's the same principle for what the adderall is doing to your body.

i think you've got a very big misunderstanding of what being sober is. 24 hours after ingestion of an adderall XR, you potentially could still have an effective dose working through your body depending on how well you absorb the tablet. 12 hours after you've taken an XR is when the tablet stops working and should have been fully absorbed. up to 4 hours after that you can feel effects linger on, so for 16 hours that tablet is actually working (for some people). you're clearly taking way too much for your body or brain to handle, you need to lower your doses or stop taking it at 1pm. if you can't sleep while taking your meds you shouldn't be taking them or you shouldn't be taking such a high dose.

i'm glad that you haven't been using downers, because once you start to introduce those, all hell breaks loose. you shouldn't have to be put to sleep by something because your other medicine is keeping you awake. ludicrous.

i personally take 40mg of dexamphetamine, 20mg in the morning, 20mg at lunchtime/afternoon. it's instant release, so i know exactly when it will stop working by and i haven't altered my dose in the past two years. i don't need to. when i wasn't abusing other drugs, i slept perfectly at night, even better than when i wasn't taking the dexedrine actually.

have you considered trying it? you see adderall has both the l and d isomer of amphetamine in it, which is the kind of dirty isomer, it produces far more noradrenaline in the body, so you become more physically active. dexedrine contains only d-amphetamine, which is more of a mental clarity booster, but also to a certain extent a physical booster, just nowhere near the same potency of the l isomer.

have you also considered trying two doses of IR instead of XR? you can get very uneven results with XR tablets.

it's all because you haven't slept, thats why you feel those effects, i understand why you take the tablet - but seriously you shouldn't do it. you're not helping yourself get anywhere and your day is ruined anyway.

I never thought of that at all! I feel silly now. I know what sobriety is, I just meant that in terms of 'not taking anything in more than 12 hours'

I have already called my psychiatrist and and left a message and she never called me back. I was waiting around for her call all day. I think that the evening boost is way too much, too. I think you are right. I think the medicne is stacking when I take the second dose. I am wondering if I can try an IR at a smaller dose for the after noon.
Dexedrine isn't good for me. Doesn't get me motivated in the right ways. I have the focus and ambition, it not in consistent ways. And going to high without effects is where it ends.

I have been thinking about Ritalin la or xr? Not sure if xr exists. And I am not sure what LA is all about.
Ritalin IR I tried a long time ago but it was harsh for me. And even at small doses I felt bad drops of anxiety. It didn't 'wear off' it fell off.

And I have close to no anxiety with adderall xr except for small rebound anxiety...., so I am basically worried that any IR would be the same. Is Ritalin xr maybe something that could be plausible? Does that have different effects than amphetamines as in symptom relief? I am not sure if I even remember if i payed attention to if the effects were helpful because I was terrified of the IR drop the whole time.
