Why were poppers (Amyl Nitrate) and Ether big in the 60s & 70s but no longer are?

Poppers (Rush, Jungle Juice, etc.) are still popular in some gay circles and can be ordered online or sometimes bought OTC at sex shops. Now, though, they contain isobutyl nitrite instead of amyl nitrite (almost always incorrectly referred to as "amyl nitrate") as their active ingredient.

On Poppers

Poppers (Rush, Jungle Juice, etc.) are still popular in some gay circles and can be ordered online or sometimes bought OTC at sex shops. Now, though, they contain isobutyl nitrite instead of amyl nitrite (almost always incorrectly referred to as "amyl nitrate") as their active ingredient.

The original Amyl Nirtate was a potent dis-inhibitor, in sexual situations it released inhibitions, and the old poppers unleashed a rush of hungry desire and what I called the liquefied slut. I would fo things after a few hits of poppers that I was too shy to try without. I poured myself into highly motivated sexual action...,and to be honest, i loved them. i loved the sleazy energy that flowed through my body.

At some point the law realized we homos were having too much fun, and they banned the originsl formula. Since Then, they have come out with far inferior substitutes, which are a real disappointment. The slutty liquid sensation is hinted at, but i miss the ravishing animal i used to become. IsoButyl Nitrate.just doesn't cut it. I wish the government woukd stop making it its business to quash pleasure!!!

I find it extremely annoying that this thread refers to Amyl Nitrate instead of Amyl Nitrite 90% of the time.

They make the cumming from an orgasim like super intense.

Make anal sex a lot more enjoyable on both ends, because it relaxs your sphinter where the spread cheeks will be gaping butthole.

They are good cleaning video cassette heads.
