Why Roor/expensice glassware?

well in my experience bongs get you more high and feel more intense and it feels a liiiiittle bit different from smoking a joint, if thats what you ment by glassware, but if its a bong i dont think it matters if its glass, ceramic or anything else :P isn't a roor just a household name? like just bongs that say ROOR

^^^ I dropped my acrylic bong down stairs and onto tile floors without any problem and I paid $25 for it. Granted, its not as pleasing on the eye and Im assuming the smell would probabl be a bit nicer inside the glass bong but that, to me, isnt worth as much as a Roor. There isnt anything a Roor can do that an acrylic cant as far as I know. Lol i just dont get it.
you've obviously never used a nice bong then!!! :D8)

Nice bongs are like any other quality device or tool...they are just...nice.

Are they necessary? Usually not...there's usually always a cheaper slightly crappier version of what you have if you're into having nice things (the way the world works!)

Umm...

First off RooR is expensive because just like other shit clothes, electronics, etc. its rockin' the brand name....Notable quality, glass on-glass, uniform look, german pyrex glass...

However there are bongs that are also glass on glass of the same caliber that will always be found at a much lower price..

I do feel that getting a cheaper glass on glass..just not name brand is a smart choice...Like same/similar size and thickness...percolators and diffusers...just no ph(X) or RooR label...blueDot, chaos (k-os)?, purp, are some quality knock-offs or just not as popular but still have the same bang for the buck..

i think its kinda ridiculous to say its only for dumb jocks...etc...also i don't think a RooR is in any way comparable to a 15$ acrylic (crap) bong...

i've owned/used both in my days...If you honestly say that Acrillic/Metal Slide 25-20$ bong comes close to a multi percolator, thick glass on glass, diffuser, ash catcher, ice catcher RooR or ph(X) your bullshitting..because you have not ripped a bong of that kind of prestige...or you would quickly know the difference..

i remember ripping my friends ph(x) duo in my noob days and the percolators made it so smooth you couldn't feel the smoke go in your lungs until its too late and you've milked it for like 30seconds and have enough smoke in you to blow you up and you go into a uncontrollable cough for like 10minutes with no desire to hit it again as you are high as shit...(2 percs, 23 hole diffuser, custom ash catcher, ice catch in main shaft, 18mm downstem)-you can't fuck with that

Its like saying why buy a new Benz when you could buy a 95' Chevy Caprice...Well performance, style, reliability, etc...There are however cheaper options in that same "class" will yield the same/similar specs though...

click on it and read what it says on the left

Hoooooly shit. Its awesome because its so scientific I still dont fully understand how it functions after reading it twice. If I had the money...

Guys, no price discussion. Much appreciated.

In fact, let's stay away from specific price quotations for paraphernalia too while we're at it.

My bad, didnt think.

id rather get an ounce than a roor

Exactly my reasoning for starting this thread/not buying a Roor bong.

using quality glass products makes it feel and sound like i'm doing important science%)

glass gives such a clean smooth smoke.

efficient too.

glass is so quick and easy to clean, my old acrylic bong would need fresh-water-flushing for ever to remove the taste/smell of cleaning product, whereas just hot water alone will get most of the tar off my glass

I work in an independant headshop, and we mark our stuff up no more than 100%, while most other headshops mark up 150-200%... don't be fooled.

This is actually pretty low. Most headshops in my area have a 300-400% mark up. If I can I try to get bongs direct from the glass blower because you generally pay about $25 for a good bong. Glass blowers are flakey and hard to get ahold of though, as a rule.

They pay for themselves because everyone wants to try em

Especially in college

:D

are nicely made ceramic bongs good?

I wouldn't recommend buying one.

You don't have to pay a whole lot to get a really nice glass bong w/ GonG joints these days, and it's WELL worth the extra bit of cash. It doesn't need to say RooR or be 10mm thick to rock your ass.

AMEN!!

My first opinion is that I love glass bongs. My second opinion is that you can take awesome rips out of an expensive bong. It really helps to taste the flavor of really dank bud. I have an AMG Bong that retails for <no goddamn prices - chainer>. You can snap a gram out of it and feel like you just took a deep breath. My $0.02

I've never used one, I hear they can be a pain to clean. I like glass mainly because it's a lot easier to clean.

I don't have a Roor or a name brand glass bong I just would use acrylic ones, and when I had a glass bong or any glass pipes I'd get them directly from glass blowers.

I mainly now just vaporize occasionally, and I don't really smoke herb at all anymore. The vape was cheap compared to some of them like the Volcano but it works just as well, and it's a magic flight launch box.

You'd probably be better off spending the same amount of money on a glass bong, even if it isn't glass on glass.

Don't ask me, I only smoke joints. I got sick of losing/breaking glass, plus I just really like smoking joints. Unless I have some REAL high-grade stuff and a friend as some glass on him. Obviously if it's not my weed, I have no say.

My friend had a nice Roor with ice notches and then I accidentally broke it while trying to clean it in his sink. I felt like an ass. It was 3.2mm thick though, so I'd suggest going with 5mm or 7mm thickness if you do intend to get one. They are actually pretty strong and resilient but you still gotta respect the glass and be careful. It was a straight Roor (non-beaker base) and pretty easy to clean too.

After that Roor, he got another Roor identical to this one:

That's a 5 tree perc in the middle there with ice notches above. I only post this image because that's my dream bong. It was so clean and smooth to hit. It's like a work of art.

Anyway, my friend is pretty well off with money and often has people over at his house. I think if you can afford it and intend to have others smoke out of it, then it's worth it. Hits are extremely smooth and the Roor bowls are perfect. It's hard to compare once you've hit one. They are just a pleasure to work with (easy to clean and awesome to hit). It seems everyone in this thread that's bashing them is doing so because they can't afford one. I can't either but I've got respect for it. People always make the argument that smoking out of straight pipe or cheap piece will get you just as high. The world of weed is so complex with different grades and so many strains and methods of getting high (smoking+vaping+eating) that getting an expensive, quality bong is just another option for the weed connoisseur. I appreciate the variety. It's all good though... just smoke and get blazed. :)

Ok there buddy, believe what you want to believe, but these stores exist simply to rob you of your hard earned dollars. I sure as shit can afford one of these bongs however I'm not stupid and would rather spend my money on a) more weed or b) a real investment, a vaporizer. I used to think the same as you, thinking that weed smoking was a lovely cornucopia. However after dropping some money on a vaporizer, I've realized in horror how much money I wasted over the last 4 years, on paraphanelia and wasted weed. To argue that these bongs gets you any higher than a pipe is ludicrous... in fact more the more things that the smoke comes in contact with, the more you lose in the resin, as with said bongs. Why would I want to pay absurd amounts of money just to put smoke in my lungs from combusted plant material. Believe it or not, I like weed because I get high.

Goddamn. My mate broke a Roor once and had to buy a new stem/downpipe and ended up spendin over <no goddamn prices - chainer> AUD for the parts. Thats crazy money man, especially given the price of weed in Australia. Its not like the good old days in England... :(

Yeah i Got one a ROOR in australia at a local tabbaconist for <no goddamn prices - chainer> and as far as price of weed most people get riped off due to lack of connections
