Why isn't Ibogaine brought up more often ? It seems like something we should absolutely introduce to the society.

It was introduced, then made illegal.

It's sometimes effective for treating addiction... but if the person relapses, they die.

yeah people don't die if they relapse unless they OD right after not knowing their tolerance is way down. There are ibogaine clinics in Canada and it is legal here. Plenty of research has been done it and is on going. It's not a miracle cure though, still requires plenty of real life work to become a well adjusted normal individual whatever that is. It will effectively stop withdrawals and help with addiction but it's also a bit dangerous to use, so unless administered by a medical professional, it's not super safe to use on your own.

I've been reading about it for 10 years now; many people know about it, many documentaries on it and plenty of people who've tried it. It isn't brought up more often likely because it is illegal in the US.

It's a shame. Even if it's dangerous to use it unassisted it still should be talked about. You don't operate yourself neither.
Well I hope we can use iboigaine more often in the future and I know it requires alot of self-work too but still just imagine how great it would be. I cured my addictions with mushrooms only and after I read about ibogaine it seems like a better version of them ( atleast for curing addictions )
thx for you answers

Yep, that's pretty much the reason for all the ibogaine deaths. Also, cardiac arrest (people with heart problems) and asphyxiation due to vomiting. Dr Jan Bastiaans lost his license in 1993 due to an ibogaine death. Howard Lotsof was the main promotor after that but he was just a chemist but wrote the 1st paper on the effectiveness of addiction treatment in mice but was eventually shut down by the FDA.

lolwut

I would have thought after 6 years here and 2000 posts you'd know not spread baseless bullshit around 8(

I don't think he is incorrect big shooter a valid reason Ibogaine isn't popularized throughout the world, more needs to be learned and adjusted, for now a its suboxone here in the USA :) Ibogaine patients should be heavily educated

I don't see why bother with ibogaine...it's psychedelic effects aren't recreational, unless you're sadistic in nature. It gets you through detoxing on opiates *without withdrawal**lol..nevermind the fact everyone that uses it for this purpose lays around vomiting, feeling like they've been run over by a train for three days, while having to be under constant medical supervision. You'll be better off just having someone take care of you through your detox.

Plus, if you actually use Buprenorphine properly, it works really well...not that I was one that used it properly, but several friends were able to get on and off without withdrawal in just a few months time.. Buprenorphine is weird.

Have you ever taken it? Iboga feels better than SEX. I LOVED it, changed my whole life.

I just watched Pulp Fiction, bear with me....

Have you actually watched videos on bwiti using iboga Ringo? Sadastic? No I'm about to get medieval on your ass, they are all wearing shit eating grins because iboga is so mother fucking fun. It is the best mother fucking psychedelic there is. There is a reason you see 4 year olds eating it in Gabon. All other psychedelics are frosted coated candy compared to iboga (not counting DMT family). Bitch. :)

Sorry that movie always gets me riled up.

LOL..k.

I'll hit myself for the 'not recreational' part, but I'm not taking out the sadistic part. Isn't the real psychedelic nature of Ibogaine found at doses near lethal overdose levels?

No,not at all. I think in Gabon they are known to eat up to 30mg/kg worth of ibogaine (several grams worth). I've taken 17mg/kg (about 1.25grams) and I've taken 1/10th the dose and found that also psychedelic. so...no, it's weak stuff actually since you need 200mg-several grams and a lethal dosage is far, far more than these dosages.

Right, sorry about that. It's nice to see your contribution. :)

I clarified in my next post, there has been cases of patient dying from drug use after ibogaine treatment.

I think the reason it's not talked about more is that it has a reputation as being predominately for treating addiction rather than as a recreational drug in its own right -- that, and because it's prohibitively expensive and illegal in the U.S on top of that. The raw plant matter isn't too expensive but it's still illegal in the U.S. I've seen purified Voacanga root bark extract on sale for a fairly reasonable price, but from what I've heard voacangamine produces negative side effects and little to no psychedelia. If there was an easy kitchen chemistry conversion of voacangamine to ibogaine I would certainly try it. I've heard people claim there is such a conversion using publicly accessible materials, but I've never read of anybody actually doing the supposed simple conversion successfully. All the more professional write ups I've seen involve a lot of steps and materials.

Have many deaths reported with Ibogaine were outside of opioid and other forms of addiction? I ask this here and not google and so forth due to the probability of misconception and so forth.

.....aaaand it's extremely expensive when you consider the dosage. Might be cheaper if you buy the bark and extract it yourself, I don't know.
