Why is there such a disconnect between European and American humor? In your opinion

EADD is basically the Young Ones. Obviously I'm Mike, the cool one. The rest of you are a sad mix of woe is me, mung bean eating Neil, or Russel Brandt wannabe Ricks. Sammy G is of course Vivian.

I'd imagine Felix does a great Alexis Sayle impersonation

Now you bring up the young ones - a large part of there being less big british sitcoms is the 'alternative' comedy which to a certain extent made classic sitcoms go the way of the spanglies (ie be uncool). Did america have an equivalent alternative comedy scene? (i'm asking). I'd certainly pass for rick in writing (you facsist), but i'm afraid it's more like neil in the flesh ;) (and i'd have you as harry the bastard otw (or maybe SPG))

What goes around comes around - a lot of modern british 'lad' comics are pretty much a return to the spanglies anyway in my view - just with "ironic" quote marks to get away with it (i like stewart lee).

Hah. I can see myself in all the characters, with the exception of Mike.

He was a deluded & grandiose dickhead who weirdly spent his time with a bunch of fucked-up weirdos. It's fucking hilarious and fitting that you identify with him the most. :D

I never watch TV anymore - I spend most evenings watching comedy podcasts online to get my daily dose of lulz.

Tends to just be comedians shooting the shit / getting high / making me feel like I have a social life.

Infinitely better imo.

Nice. You seen the joe rogan podcasts? ive recently started watching them, he has some brilliant people on there

The IT Crowd was brilliant, FUBAR, what are you on about?

There is an infamous US version of the first episode, which has all American actors, with the exception of Moss, still played by Richard Ayoade.

After just watching some of it again, I'm 100% convinced that it was a complete and utter piss take by Graeme Linehan (the creator).

It has to be. It's like a parody of all those comedies that people have tried to translate across the pond.

Watch it here: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xmjpk4_the-it-crowd-us-pilot_fun

@Dan - Seen them all yeah :) also check out kill Tony, ari shaffir skeptic tank, punch drunk sports, ice house chronicles, getting Doug with high etc.

basically all the deathsquad stuff.

Hmm, maybe I'm thinking of the big bang theory - that was shite wasn't it? And American toboot...

Did the IT crowd have a couple of geeks in a basement office and their boss was some blonde piece?

Yeah, that's the one. It was the last funny 'traditional' sit-com imo. Good stuff.
