what is the reasoning behind this? Salvia is way more intense than acid or shrooms imo, even if it is for a much shorter duration.

So that people will think "Hey if Salvia is legal maybe I should try that before I delve into LSD since it's illegal. The legal one must be more tame and safe."
Mwahahahaha

Salvia has only gained popularity pretty recently, LSD and Shrooms were a huge "issue" (in the public eye) back in the day.

In Italy, where i live, salvia was made illegal in 2004.It was sold by smart-shops and gained huge public attention,it was everywere haha.

As far as I know, Salvia has never been part of a counterculture movement in the US.

Just have some people kill them self or make a scene under the influence of salvia, then you'll see it's legal or not :D By the way, it's illegal in several states of USA which is mainly because of stupid youtube videos. But again it's not very right to compare it to most well known psychedelics in human history lsd/shrooms. I totally agree with you about its intensity, it's more intense than anything maybe even more than DMT, which I haven't tried yet. I've tried salvia for 10-15 times. I know it can totally fuck you up for 10 minutes, I've seen my friends scared the shit out, forgot who they are, tried to escape from windows stuff like that. Luckily I haven't experienced anything bad, but everytime I try it I become speechless, can't even describe what I experienced because it's so alien that you can't put it to words.

Salvia is illegal in my state. Some high school kid killed himself. Afterward, his parents found his salvia diary. They blamed his suicide completely on the drug, and the press ran with it. Soon enough, the law changed. Couldn't have been depression and a lack of attention that caused him to wanna off himself. Must've been this drug we've never heard of! Stupid....

Salvia is a "recent" discovery in terms of Western usage of the plant as a psychoactive. It only gained popularity among the modern world after the introduction of the internet.

As amusing as it is to see the inexperienced take a hit of salvia extract, it has the tendency to scare people away from hallucinogens in general. It is good that it's duration is only ~2 minutes. A lot of bad things would happen if it were as accessible as it is now and had the duration of a traditional psychedelic.

I love LSD and Mescaline, but I could go the rest of my days without doing salvia again. It is the most terrifying and uncomfortable psychedelic I have ever tried. When I first tried it, I was experienced with LSD already, and did not know much about Salvia. I bought a container of extract from a shop in the Haight, and when I asked for it, the little Afghani man that owned the shop said in a high pitched, droning voice "Hehehe. He wants to try da Salvia". I knew something was wrong with the stuff before I even smoked it. It was like being in hell for two minutes - just like the few times I tried it thereafter.

Right, I was actually being quite serious with my post. The mwahaha was the dialogue of the overlords laughing at their smoke & mirrors trick.

For sure. Salvias on shelves because its no where NEAR the magic of p.cubensis. and by magic, i mean boundary dissolving. Counter-cultural u know

Leaving the counterculture element aside......

Tell that to the shamans of Mexico and Central America that hold S. Divinorum right up there with mushrooms and morning glory seed. It was magic enough that Albert Hoffman went down to Mexico to obtain some and attempt to find its active principle.

The plant is so magic, the secret eluded even the great Hoffman and it took Ortega to find divinorum A as an isolate in the early 80s, and D. Seibert to try smoking this isolate in the 90s and finally identify it as the long mysterious active element of Divinorum.

Totally agree with you, I think it's more magical than most of the psychedelics, but at the same time more alien from all of them.
