(answered) Why is one not allowed to put a mod/admin on their ignore list?

The ability to ignore mods/admins is a usergroup setting. I believe it would also block communications as well forum posts. I'm also not sure how it interacts with the warnings/infractions system. Nonetheless, it makes forum management a little tricky.

As such, most forums do not enable that ability. It would be preferable to have a finer grain of settings, but vBulletin doesn't provide that.

If you're experiencing a problem with a staff member that goes beyond a simple personality clash, please let the appropriate senior staff member know.

I see. Thanks for explaining. :)

I suppose I could see how there might be possible issues regarding warnings and such. Although you may be interested to know that I am able to ignore the soup nazi.

I'm not having any personal issues with any of the staff. I was actually looking at a certain mod's profile and accidentally clicked "add to ignore list" when I meant to click "find all posts". I had no intention of ingoring this person but I was just curious why I couldn't do it if I wanted to.

The staff are supposed to be the people you're meant to listen to, it would seem counterproductive to be able to put them on ignore. ;) Besides, then you'd get all the trolls saying "I didnt see the mod tell me to stop trolling because I had them on ignore so now you cant punish me because I didn't know" :p

Soup nazi isnt technically in the "moderator" user group, he just has a special title but he's actually still in the bluelighter user group I believe... maybe even some group of his own? I'm not sure, but anyway that's why you were able to put him on ignore.

I mentioned the soup nazi because tambo brought up the warning/infraction system. If the soup nazi still gives out warnings then wouldn't ingoring him create the very issue he's talking about, where one could claim they didn't see or receive a warning at all? I know the mods/smods usually give the warnings, but dosen't the soup nazi do this on occasion as well? It's been a long time since I've received a warning so I don't remember.

Edit - I find it strange that I'm unable to ignore the engineer as well. And yes I know the reason you're going to tell me, because they're technically in the mod/admin group. :P I just think it's weird cause the engineer does not issue warnings or anything like that.

I think an "engineer" title, would most likely have access to such things(along with many other things), but being in the role of engineer it would never be their job to use it really.

Think, customized version of the title "administrator," for a specific person on the technical side of things..

Yeah, that's kinda what I figured out, that all of those fancy "co-owner", "director", "engineer", "technician", & "enlighten"(always found it odd and unnecessary that this title even exists btw) titles are basically just modified versions of mods and admins. Everyone else is fair game to put on the ignore list it seems ;) The next question is who to choose hehehe

Thanks for the prompt replies all. :) Feel free to close this unless there is anything else.

Special titles dont have anything to do with user groups, you can ignore any special title as long as its in a basic user group. You could even make a special title that says "administrator" but as long as its still in one of the basic user groups you'd be able to ignore it.

Yes I know. I only meant that here at Bl, individuals with those specific titles are technically in the mod/admin group and thus off limits to ignore. It was just a funny little thing I thought of, I didn't meant that's how all of vBulletin(or other sites) works or anything.
