Why is crack such a predominantly "black" drug?

dude id have to agree with u , in my area crack or relly cut coke is only sold by black dudes, but alot of coke heads are not black where i am, coke powder is supplied by the mexicans relly good quality(they got a monopoly) then various sellers either black or mixican cut it somtimes, somtimes not ;distribute it amongst the community (generaly) the product goes brown-black-white incresing in price wile losing its potantcy. thats y if one of my friends offers me a line ill ask him did u get it from mexicans,if he said no then i say naw ill pass lol

but the crack dealers get the same good coke from the mexicans and cook it into crack,my answer: i think its because its such a huge money maker , like coke is a huge money maker aslong as u know a good wholesale supply well take the profits from that and double or triple that when u make it into crack

now i know this seems completly luacris to some of you but in my area thats maily how it goes with a few exceptions

Crack was first popularized in black neighborhoods, and there tends to be a lot less stigma in the projects then there is in more white areas. I'd also like to note that I live in a very segregated city (Austin, Tx), partially because back in the early 20th century a law was passed that forced all minorities to move to the East side of town. As a result the East side is predominantly black and latino whereas the south side is mostly white with some latinos, the west side is all white and asian pretty much and the north side is all white. Except the north east, which tends to be mostly black. And the only crack I've ever seen sold in Austin was either around downtown or the eastside. Also because the government created crack to keep the black man down (I'm kidding here, but seriously, the government has plenty of other ways to keep the black man down).

It is true, at least in the US, that crack is predominantly used by blacks while powder cocaine is predominantly used by whites. That's one of the several reasons that the sentencing differences between crack and powder were wrong, and one of the primary reasons they were removed.

Ultimatly I think the dividing line is class. Crack is generally used by lower income people, and most lower income people in the US are not white. It's coincidence as much as anything. If it was whitey that was stuck in the ghetto then it would be white people who mainly used crack, but it isn't. Crack makes a lot more sense as a life decision if you're poor, at least to me. It is interesting to me that most meth users I've met were white, I'm not really sure how to explain that one, and I don't know if it's statistically true that most meth users are white, I'd be interested in seeing more statistics on drug use within various racial/ethnic groups.

crack is not predominantly a black drug, but it had a huge impact on the black communities all over america in the 80s and 90s, which was brought to the attention of the mainstream media by rap artists who were former crack dealers and rapped about, well, dealing crack. and there was that whole ad campaign with pee wee herman, clint eastwood, and others.

but i live in los angeles, and i know a LOT of white crackheads. in fact when i was using it myself, i found most other users were predominantly white. i only met black crackheads recently actualy, since i started making music with my friends coke dealer in inglewood lol
 
This is a very American thing, am in the UK and it's mostly whites who do crack. Usually they're general junkies who also do heroin and other shit.

Crackis more acceptable in black ghetto culture.

IME black ppl are way more flagellant about their usage, they are very open about it and it leads to them sticking out, because it is a crime to possess/sell/use drugs any group of people that as a culture are more likely to put their business out for the world to see are more likely to be arrested.

I live in a huge city, I have seen first hand black kids and adults get coddled by authorities because they deal with them everyday, while if you're white you will get the book thrown at you.

Black ppl commit crimes and murder at insane rates and nobody wants to accept that it is their culture that sucks ass and not their skin.

I think many people are mad at black culture which is psychotic in 2016 (not much unlike anything else but it is crazier) and not actual black people.

Any culture that worships ignorance is bound to fail hard.
 
It is a strange thing how drugs get different cultural approval levels.

If you snort cocaine, you are cool.
If you smoke crack, you are an addict.

If you take meth or normal amphetamines you are either an addict or a poor looser (At least that is how it is seen in my country).

If you use syringe and needle and shoot anything, you are absolutely crazy and of the worst addicts. Unless it is steroids, then you are okay. After all, you are doing it to get better at your sport and everyone else does it.

If you do MDMA and Ketamine you are hanging with the in party crowd and know how to paaaartyyy.

If you eat yourself close to death in pharmaceutical opiats or opioids you are okay. Just having fun. If you do heroin, you are of the worst kind, you are probably already a lost case and dead.

Prejudice every where :) As to the race angle I don't know anything. This is not so discussed where I am from as it is in the states.
