So I Self-Medicated with Amitriptyline a while back at 150mgs at about 7 ocklock at night I would take it , because I noticed it took a while to kick in,
Then before I even knew I was tired BOOM out of the game, good 7-8 hours minimum very deep sleep,

Bounced out of bed at about 7 in the morning absolutely buzzing like I was on pure Amphetamine pupils massive and everything, no appetite, if anything had to get done that day, it was done before Lunch time !!

Really gave me a kick up the arse and helped my anxiety a lot.

Now I've been put on it again and all I do is sleep and lie about like a waster for days like the totally opposite effect from before, What the fuck's the deal , anyone any experience with this ??

I am on Valium and Gabapentin but that doesn't interact with anything been taking benzos for years, only new thing to my meds is Gabapentin, don't know If there's any interactions there, I'm only on 600mgs per day ??

Any Input would be appreaciated B-)

I know mate but still no excuse for the effects I got before as to what I'm getting now, I'm asking myself, is it the brand, is it my mental state ? wtf lol?
I want that feeling back again that's why I asked for them for months.

There is an excuse...

You added a sedative to the mix... It can negate your cheer in the morning...

But Gaba-ercics wake me up lol , Benzos are like speed to me also, really annoyed with this, it changed my life before and now it's doing fuckawl, suppose just keep it as a back up for sleepless nights.

I'd be careful with amitriptyline, especially in high doses. It interacts with a lot of things and also has several pages of possible side effects (I know most drugs do, but in my experience amitriptyline has increased my continuous sweating and probably other things). I'm also on gabapentin. I've noticed over the months that I've had significant water retention, too, which I think is the gabapentin. I'm trying to titrate myself off of amitriptyline and gabapentin both. Amitriptyline is great for making me tired, but, honestly, there's no drug that's going to constantly be used as a sleep aid without making you dependent on it and causing weird effects (without it being abusable, like valium and xanax). (EDIT: ok maybe benadryl/dyphenhydramine, but I can't stand the stuff ever since I did about 750mg of it as a teenager and had a bad episode.)

I've never had the effect that you describe from amitriptyline, however I have not taken more than 100mg of it at a time for sleep. I'm currently down to 50mg a night and it still makes me pretty damn drowsy. Because it's an anti-cholinergic it dries out your membranes, too, and does other weird stuff from being a tricyclic antidepressant. I wouldn't recommend using it for sleep on a permanent basis (but that's what I'm doing right now).
