Why Inject Meth?

So alot of people do it. Why? It seems there is more rush and euphoria (it certainly hits faster) from smoking. Do you realize lose enough to make injecting economically necessery?

-rush
-shorter duration
-better on body (if the meth isn't cut)
-you can get bigger shots in a needle than you can in one toke
And the last point, I really have to make, needles are FUN, people(some) like to inject chemicals into their bodies that give them an intense rush.

The instant rush of enlightenment that comes on, in cold waves.
The duration of the high, which pales in comparison only to oral ingestion.
The lack of distraction from the cumbersome tasks that accompany smoking or snorting the shit.
The obvious physical discomfort which also comes along with smoking or snorting, the shit is basically toxic fire.
In my case, the absolutley non-exsistant come down, gentle as a baby.
And of course, the obvious economic benefits, which I witnessed tonight, in which a 1/8 gram IV'd by one person kept him tweeking at the rate and consistancy of 3 people smoking thier way through a fucking a gram.
And so on, and so on, and so on...

quale is right, the rush and euphoria should be stronger with smoked meth, because it hits your brain about one second faster. This is why smoking freebase cocaine (crack) is the most addictive method of administering coke. It's really simple biology:
1) Smoked *insert name of substance here* is absorbed faster than IVed because it is absorbed over into a far greater volume of blood over the huge surface area of the lungs. And also:
2) Smoked substances go straight to the brain from the lungs, whereas injected substances have to pass through the lungs before they hit the brain, adding precious, rush-decreasing time.
Keep in mind that this is most applicable to the freebase forms of most substances, which are specifically most efficient to smoke. Smoking HCl/HBr salts does decrease the effectiveness of the smoking method.

So basically, you're saying that the speed with which the onset of a drug begins is the primary and only factor in determining the strength and euphoria of the rush?
So I take it the actual amount of the drug administered is totally irrelevant then, correct?
By the logic of your 2 statements, smoking just a 1/10 of a gram of meth would then provide for a stronger and more euphoric rush than IV'ing 1 full gram, because the onset is faster. After all, via smoking, the drug is absorbed into a far greater volume of blood and doesn't have to pass through the lungs, and those of course, are the only 2 factors that have any bearing on the quality of the rush...
Now call me silly, but I am going to assume, 1 gram of methamphetamine introduced into the system unadulterated via IV, is going to produce a stronger and more euphoric rush than smoking that same gram, simply due to real world limitations and constraints.
Let me ask you this, have you ever managed to smoke a WHOLE gram of meth in one hit, without wasting any of the substance in the least, and without letting ANY semblance of smoke at all escape unabsorbed? Have you been able to do it with 1/2 a gram, or even an 1/8?
Now, "simple biology" aside...
Speaking from experience, I can definitley say that smoking meth cannot hope to compare to the strength, intensity, duration and comfort afforded by IV use. On that same note, again speaking from exeperience, I can say that IV administration of crack has more potential for addiciton than just crack itself, but that's just my opinion...
Keep in mind, I don't attack the technical validity of your statement, just the lack of regard pertaining to the numerous real world variables involved in drug use...

^^^ basically what I said in my first post, it's impossible to get huge doses off with smoking, you can vaporize quite a bit but it can not compare with the power of the needle for those balls to the walls rushes.

Here are some interesting values for different methods of administration for cocaine (couldn't find ones for meth but you get the idea).
The onset of effects, peak effects, duration of euphoria, and plasma half-life for different routes of administration are as follows:
Inhalation (7 s onset, 1-5 min peak, 20 min duration, 40-60 min half-life)
IV (15 s onset, 3-5 min peak, 20-30 min duration, 40-60 min half-life)
Nasal (3 min onset, 15 min peak, 45-90 min duration, 60-90 min half-life)
Oral (10 min onset, 60 min peak, 60 min duration, 60-90 min half-life)
A full 100% of cocaine is delivered to the circulatory system in an IV dose versus 20-30% of cocaine that is ingested or inhaled.
Emedicine.com "Toxicity, Cocaine"
So basically smoking coke/crack hits the brain faster than with IV because of the proximity of the lungs and their infinitely large vasculature to the brain (versus a shot in your arm). However, only IV use of really any drug can deliver 100% of the amount used. Perhaps in the time it takes you to smoke more rocks to get an amount of coke in your system similar to IV'ing the drug, the amount of coke in your system is already starting to be metabolized and thus decline. So you never get to that peak that IV use can give.
Coke doesn't = meth, but this would explain why people prefer IV over smoking (other than just being a needle freak who likes to inject anything liquid).

It can't possibly last longer IV'ed than smoked. This is patently absurd. Perhaps you aren't getting as much in your bloodstream smoking it (which is why I asked whether it was significantly less efficent) but it isn't like your body tags IV meth in your bllod and says ohh don't break that down yet it was IVed.

Ok, I'm obviously no expert on all this stuff, but it seems to me having more in your blood stream would make it last quite a bit longer. I mean, your body can only break it down at a certain rate. Of course it doesn't tag it as meth that's been inhaled or IVed, but from what I've read, there's obviously more in your bloodstream after IVing it. And even if you finally got it to an equivalent amount from smoking it, it would have begun metabolizing as someone already pointed out. However, with IVing it, it would all be there at once, no wasted time (except for that which it takes to hit your brain).

I want to emphasize (Abra pointed this out already) that although a given hit of crack/meth REACHES your brain quicker when smoked, it doesn't mean smoking is a faster/better than injecting. You lose a lot of the drug when smoked, plus it takes a long time to absorb across the lungs (why we hold the hits in). With IV, it's all in the bloodstream at once, and so after the ~15sec it takes to reach your brain, the drug all comes on immediately. With smoking it might hit in ~7 sec but then it only slowly comes on as you hold the hit in, take another one, etc. Hence you usually get a better rush IV'ing.

what kind of duration are we talking IV'd? ie. are you still not able to sleep later after an IV'd dose as opposed to snorting\smoking\etc. ?

Well perhaps this is a terminology difference suppose you smoke enough and inject enough to reach the same concentration in your blood. Then you will have the same duration.
Pretty much the whole point of this thread was to ask whether you ARE losing a significant amount by smoking.
The point about reaching it all at once is all taken. However having shot and smoked similar amounts I personally found smoking more euphoric...maybe that is just a personal taste issue.
