I have been diagnosed with social and general anxiety disorder just for a quick background on my mental state. I like a lot of drugs but not weed. All of my friends love it and can smoke bowl after bowl. Occasionally if I take one hit I always regret my decision. Is it because of my anxiety? I've heard of other people reacting badly to smoking. Maybe it's just not for me...? Opinions?

If you have anxiety or panic issues when you're sober I can see why you wouldn't like herb if after you smoke or use herb you get anxiety or panic while high.

Not everyone likes the same drugs, or reacts the same way to them. I don't use drugs now or even smoke herb or drink booze; but I have friends who did try smoking herb once or even a few times and they prefer to get drunk.

I have other friends who have used all sort of drugs even high doses of Ketamine, or even hallucinogens like high doses of mushrooms or LSD but they don't like herb since it makes them paranoid, or they get horrible anxiety while high just from one hit.

I also have a general anxiety disorder. however I'm terribly addicted to weed. I even like my paranoid highs lol xD.

Try taking 1 mg of xanax and then smoke. I find 1 mg of xanax kills all the weird feelings cannabis can give you.

I too have anxiety, but I love marijuana. It took me a while to get over my paranoia when smoking, but after dabbling in different strains and environments I eventually began to be more comfortable when high. I now find myself more stressed and anxious than ever when I go without smoking for long periods of time. I was smoking every day, but I now smoke only on occasion because I became too dependent on it.

For me im not quite sure if i like it or not, i like the whole relaxed and happy feeling but it messes with my understanding of time, which im not too fond of. Only smoke it like once a week, so i'd like to think i could give it up if i wanted to.

A few friends of mine love it, and others didn't like it from the get-go because it made them panic and get anxious. I think with any drug, it's gonna effect each person differently. Also, atmosphere and surroundings always make a big difference.

I have anxiety and depression issues but i enjoy smoking pot, too :) How often do you smoke now, once a week or? I want to keep it something i do to wind down and relax, instead of being something i start to depend on.

I don't like weed either. It just isn't my drug. I don't like that I can't control it enough and I am in no desire to start smoking it as much as needed to start controlling it better. Why bother?

And why do you feel like you SHOULD like weed? If you don't, then don't do it. Messing with xanax sounds way too much effort to START LIKING A DRUG. I think it's a blessing - there are many other drugs to try and find your poison, why do you need to like weed also?

It gets stupider the more I think about it - to make special effort for a drug. Reminds me first cigarettes - they were AWFUL and yet you kept smoking them until they weren't... And was it worth it? Not at all.

So - find something that suits you. It's okay not to like EVERY drug ;)

Weeds known for causing anxiety. If you have anxiety already it doesn't take many brain points to work this one out..

Well...I have to admit that I'm not very strong when it comes to avoiding my urges to smoke. I became very dependent on weed, and I took any excuse I could come up with to smoke it. It became more of a lifestyle than an indulgence, and I ended up informing my mother of my smoking because it was becoming more and more impossible to hide it from her; I was using it as a form of self-medication and it actually seemed to help me tremendously. As of right now, I don't have a set amount of times that I smoke. I'd like to say that I've narrowed it down to once a week, but if fluxuates between one or two depending on who I'm with and what I'm doing. I think that once or twice a week is a good balance, but be careful. It's so, so easy to slip.

Actually, this isn't entirely true. There are many different strains of marijuana, all of them classified as either Indica, Sativa, or some hybrid combination of the two. Indica and Sativa produce different results within the body and mind, Indica being more of a sedative and Sativa being more of a stimulator.

Indica is medically tested to help patients with anxiety, insomnia, pain, stress, seizures, migraines, etc. It is best to smoke Indica at night, because it's likely that one won't want to do much during the day when under this strain's intoxication. This is my personal favorite, because I have trouble with sleeping and as I mentioned previously, I have anxiety. Work and school are very stressful for me and I notice an increase in my stress and anxiety levels when I don't indulge in such strains.

Sativa is medically proven to help with depression; one should indulge in this strain upon waking up in the morning, fore it fuels the mind and boosts creativity. I have a very difficult time focusing on just one thing, so I occasionally will smoke a strain of Sativa when painting or doing something creative/artistic to help with my concentration. Do you remember those fuzzy posters that you can get at Fred Meyers or your local craft store? I purchased one of those a few months ago because I wanted to have a chill, relaxing night at home while stoned and finished it within a couple of hours. I've never been able to concentrate on one thing for so long, especially when it comes to coloring.

So, my point is, while your statement it partially true, it all depends on the strain of marijuana and how you're using it. Experiment with different strains and find what works for you. Speaking of which, it's time to go smoke and take a nap. :)

:O, no fucking way mannnn!

*rolls eyes*

OP, you don't have to like weed. If it makes you feel bad, just don't smoke it. Some people are naturally high, I think that can be a reason for reacting badly to such materials.

Well obviously some people are naive to this fact considering they're using generalizations to describe weed. This forum is here so people can be educated and offer information, so fuck off, thanks. If you're really bored, why don't you go out and do something productive with your life rather than sit in front of your computer screen and be a smart ass.

No way? Yes you do have to like weed, OP. You have no choice, sorry. :|

We don't do these threads. Maybe check out our Anxiety and Paranoia mega thread.

Sorry you don't like weed - it's not the end of the world, not every drug is for everyone. Simple as that.
