Why don't I get confidence/talkative anymore?

Hey,

My first MDMA experience was memorable for the overwhelming social confidence it gave me. As soon as I felt its effects I felt as if I could approach and talk to anyone, even complete strangers. Also, I was no longer caught "in my head" when thinking of what to say, the words just flowed and although it was probably complete shite that I was talking I had such conviction in my words that people had to listen.

That was in 2008 and was taken in a shitty little bar/club that plays indie music, of which I'm not a fan. Since that experience I started using MDMA more regularly at dance music events, although always sufficiently spaced out and on special occasions, eg big name dj's playing.

However, the experience has never been anything like that first time, which I understand is perfectly normal. Now when I drop I definitely get a better appreciation for the music and decent amount of "euphoria"/"ecstasy" but I hardly ever seem to get the increased confidence and the talkativeness, I never get that loved up feeling which I also experienced for the first time.

What I am wondering is if this is normal and what could be causing it? Maybe it was the setting of that first time - I didn't like the music so it would have been hard for me to get caught up in it. Maybe that first time was a particularly good batch before MDMA in the UK started to disappear and everything since (although tested with marquis) has been weaker?

Also should add that I used Mephedrone almost every weekend from January 2010 until the ban in April 2010, not in stupid quantities like 1g a night, but definitely at least 500mg over the course of a weekend. By the end using mephedrone was only making me edgy and paranoid on nights out. The knock on effect on MDMA experiences since then seems to be shorter, less intense highs even after an 8month break.

Any thoughts?

Maybe your first MDMA had some speed mixed in? I've noticed a big difference in mdma alone, or mixed with a little amp. On MDMA alone I get into the music, I feel awesome but my social skills get basically retarted lol.
Mix it with amp and I become a social butterfly, making new friends by the minute lol

Ditto to what others have stated. If it isn't cut with an upper then you might not feel as outgoing. State of mind also plays a huge part. If you're already anxious or dwelling on something, it could exacerbate that.
