Hi

I have really bad back pain but every Dr I go to prescribe shit meds that don't help at all the last time I went I got 100mgs of gabapentin to be taken twice a day which equals 200 mgs a day and that does not help at all I just want proper pain meds but no doctor will prescribe anything cuz I'm 24 I have tried dhc ( not from the Dr ) which does help relive the pain but I don't want to ask for it cuz they will think I'm just trying to get high (which I'm not) I know if I was older I'd get the meds I need. But they just ask me to take blood tests which I've done all came back fine and then they ask me to take more blood tests. They also gave me amitriptyline which I can't take in the day as it sends me to sleep. Is there anything I can do to gets the medication I need?

Thanks

Talk to a different doctor?

You know we can't tell you what to say or what not to say to a doctor in order to get prescribed medication. If your doctor isn't giving you the treatment you feel you need, either get another doctor...or ask your doctor for a referral to a specialist. GPs aren't always the best doctors when it comes to chronic pain...that's why there's specialists for such conditions.

I had a similar issue when I started suffering from panic attacks. My GP tried to put me on SSRIs. I went and spoke to a specialist (a psychiatrist in my case) and he helped me get the relief I needed.

Good luck :)

Don't feel bad I'm 37 and I get nothing, he toldme that I need to go to physical therapy and left the room.

I'm going to close this thread - OP, PM me if you have any questions...but this is getting close to our rule against asking what to say or do in order to get prescriptions from doctors.
