Why does this pill test up?

Why does this pill test purple/black with marquis if it has no MDMA-like chemicals in it? Will Diphenhydramine test up with Marquis as an MDMA-like chemical?

I think they mistook the marquis reaction for an ecstasy-like substance. The Mecke reaction showed a nice yellow for DXM, which says enough.
