Opioids Why does morphine and tramadol do nothing for me, but hydrocodone/suboxone do?

I've never been much into opiates. At most I'd take maybe 20mg (2 10/500's) of hydrocodone a few times a year when I was having a bad day as a stress relief to make me happy and give me confidence/energy.

Haven't done any opiates for over a year, and got a few tramadol to experiment with and see if they'd be useful in the same respect.

Took 50mg and had no effect on me at all.
Tried 200mg made me "slightly" happy, but other than that nothing.

Unwilling to waste the money or risk my health with higher doses, decided wasn't worth it to use Tramadol anymore.

Then I go a hold of a few 30mg Morphine Sulfate pills. Due to advice by a friend, I broke it in half and only tried 15mg.

Again... nothing happened.

Next day, I took the full 30mg... and I got a "similar" but less euphoric feeling as Hydrocodone, but it was equivalent to the feeling I get when I take a 5mg hydrocodone.

Recently, I got a suboxone strip to try. Label was 8/2, so I'm assuming 8mg of Suboxone and 2mg of Naloxone since both are on the package thing in that order. (Please correct me if I'm wrong on this).

Put it under my tongue and held it there until it completely dissolved before swallowing.

Compared to Hydrocodone... this works extremely well. I got the confidence, the euphoric serenity, and general bliss I get from 30mg of Hydrocodone, but with the added bonus that I'm not as uncoordinated as I normally would be on Hydrocodone.

Can anyone explain why my body doesn't respond to morphine/tramadol, and does respond to Hydrocodone/Suboxone? And why would Suboxone not affect my coordination as much?

tramadol is considered a very weak opiate and if taken in high doses there is a risk of seizure.

morphine orally is shit, the BA is only around 30%, so for every 10mg you swallow, you only feel 3mg. i wouldnt bother with doses under 60mg with morphine orally.

hydro's and subutex both work very well orally and sublingually respectively; that's why you find they're better.

personally, i find that if you cut up the subutex pills/strips into 1 or 1.5mg (or even less) doses, you feel a stronger effect than you do if you ingest the whole 8mg. look up norbuprenorphine to find out why.

you sound new to opiates, be careful or they WILL fuck you.

Exactly why I stopped.

Wow, seems almost pointless then for them to be prescribed to people. Why would someone get a prescription for it instead of a Hydrocodone then

Good to know. The whole strip was more than what I'd want to use for my purposes. I used Hydrocodones when I was having a bad day, but still had to work/meet with people/etc. Though if it's stronger as you say, would it be better to make cut the strip smaller than that? I'm looking for the equivalent of what a 10mg hydrocodone would give me (most commonly what I take), only do 20mg on the days where I feel like absolute crap but I don't have to do anything.

Not necessarily new to them, just never tried anything other than hydrocodone. I'm not looking for a euphoric high, I'm looking for something to take the edge off a shitty day. Benzos are too sedating for me, and the positive effects of Hydrocodones get rid of the ill mood without making me tired.

My usage of them will never be any more than that. My DOC are psychedelics.

i think they prescribe morphine because it is stronger than codeine and it sounds strong, if you know what i mean. i'm purely speculating here, but oral morphine sucks.

i'm english so we don't have hydrocodone here, so i wouldn't know the equivalent strengths. maybe someone else can help. maybe try cutting your 8mg strip into 10 equal pieces, giving you 0.8mg, then reserve an evening where you have nothing to do.
we get the tablets here, which are better for snorting (a much better ROA in my opinion), but you can still mix the pieces of strips with water and snort that.
you can then gauge how much you might want to take in a social setting.

Some people REALLY do prefer buprenorphine to heroin/morphine. I think that this is common in eastern Europe and other parts of the world as well. I can only guess it tends to run in certain families/ethnic backgrounds. :)

There's nothing wrong with liking buprenorphine on its own. %) I like buprenorphine a lot, I just happened to have also liked heroin TOO much. %) :| I prefer buprenorphine now a days for stability.
