I seriously do not know how in the hell this drug got the "harmless" label put onto it by society when it creates some extremely scary side effects that even meth or heroin users will never experience.

It is pretty common that heavy smokers of Marijuana tend to develop anxiety and panic disorders, year long bouts of depersonalization/derealization etc.

I mean how the hell does Marijuana get away with having the label as "just a plant"

It seriously has created in me and lots of people I know/read about a spiral of crazy unwanted effects like the ones mentioned above.

I was a heavy alcohol user for some time and other than irritability it never did this to me and I never had any problems drinking.

However, I get really high one day and the next day I wake up super anxious, spacey, and on the verge of a god darn panic attack. Never had this with any other drugs.

Starting to think the most "harmless" drug in the world is honestly the most harmful to your brain.

Sure, it maybe non toxic to your body but the effects it has on the brain are bar none unmatched by ANY OTHER DRUG.

I quit smoking recently and I only think to myself, why the hell do people smoke this shit when they know that eventually it will either:

a.) make them depressed.

b.) make them anxious/paranoid/ and/or develop a panic disorder

c.) make them psychotic and start hearing voices etc.

I am ALL for any drug, mushrooms, LSD, alcohol, cigarettes, even cocaine etc for one to enjoy their youth, but Marijuana and its side effects scare the living shit out of me.

Meth is far worse than weed and causes psychosis and paranoia as well as irreversable brain
damage.
You dont know what you are talking about

All fallacy apart from your end opinion - you simply don't have a clue what you're talking about, but from your personal experience, it's not for you. YOU. SHush child.

Why don't you try and get a job with a Partnership for a Drug Free America? Apart from your views about cocaine etc. you would fit in.

You obviously, don't know any better as well^

Not that this thread is going to go anywhere productive but it comes off quite ignorant with the number of people that feel the need to discredit personal experiences and make a mockery of it.

Artificial Emotion, god forbid anyone says anything negative about marijuana you automatically think they're just a drug nazi... you would think its a little more then ironic that a lot of people share these similar symptoms after marijuana use.
I don't understand your need to constantly take offense to those who mention their negative experiences, you take it way too defensive...you're obviously very pro marijuana but you take it too the extreme and way too personal..in my opinion

For some people marijuana, has more undesirable effects then other drugs.

I know of people who could trip on Acid, Mushrooms, Whatever..but for some odd reason marijuana always ends in bad trip for them.

I said this before as well, alcohol or opiates have never gave(brought out, whatever) the intense anxiety experience that marijuana use has.
Think about like a peanut allergy, some people can enjoy a nice peanut butter sandwich while for others its a miserable time.

this is a little ridiculous...

However, i agree to a point. I noticed that years after daily use, i became a tad more of an introvert. Also, it started to fuck with my sleeping patterns. I remember at one point i would actually wake up and feel like crap after a night of heavy smoking. I smoke once or twice a week now, and this seems to have helped get rid of those negative side effects almost completely.

The guy is implying that cannabis is worse than drugs like cocaine and cigarettes because of his bad experience. He's also saying things like:

Sure, it maybe non toxic to your body but the effects it has on the brain are bar none unmatched by ANY OTHER DRUG.

It's rediculous. Nobody is 'taking offense' lol. I'm just stating the obvious.

op how do you consider alcohol - harmless or dangerous?

nothing is harmless if treated incorrectly...h20 if you drink too much your brain will swell and you could die...should we slap a warning on every bottle of water?

i think you need to get your priorities right...i don't know what country you are in but do some research a check how many deaths, illness, accidents occur from consumption of thc v alcohol...

pretty sure alcohol is a far more serious issue...although not saying thc can't have negative effects, it obviously can and does, however on there grand scheme of things it seems a little i don't know childish to be wingeing about the herb...

Its just it seems so with the sarcasm like this "Why don't you try and get a job with a Partnership for a Drug Free America?"..it comes off kinda defensive.

You've also said the same kind of insult to me, after expressing my negative concerns regarding marijuana.

It just seems you feel the need to defend marijuana through thick and thin...even if it is at the expense of others.

I do think he did go a little over the top, but I could relate to having worse experiences with marijuana then so alcohol or pretty much any other drug. I've heard of several other people express the same thing again and again.

Laugh, he didn't say alcohol was harmless either.

Marijuana not being lethal and all the other statistics, doesn't discount the negative experiences people have.

Its come off more childish to me then this rant, when people try to discredit people's negative pot experiences.

Oh boo hoo, it was said in jest 8)

And fyi what you don't seem to understand is that I'm not discounting anyone's negative experiences. What I am discounting is making generalized sweeping irrational statements about a herb because of your own negative experiences.

I agree with this guy to an extent, for sure. I think the type of person who is going to understand this is the guy who spent his entire youth baked, from morning til night. The rare individual has a tendency to really get hooked on this stuff. The average stoner simply smokes nowhere near as much weed as I - I smoke a retarded amount, way more than is necessary to be high my whole life.

Smoking weed has completely fucked my head up, far worse than my combined use of a lot of alcohol, cocaine, LSD, mushrooms, and Mdma. Not all, but some, of my long term burning friends would agree. A certain type of person is cool with burning out all day. Alright - I try not to generalise - but come on, 90%+ of stoners I know are shy around new people and much too self conscious. Some people are cool with this - not me. I am incredibly addicted to this drug, and it is proving extremely difficult to quit even though I want to SO bad. It is the only drug I have ever hardcore fiended for, and that I get withdrawal and outrageously horrible side effects from. I mainly get depression, and the feeling of a muddled and dumbed down brain.

The main thing I notice about weed is that it is the only drug that fundamentally affects my personality. It changes me into a totally different person - a weaker man - and this aspect of the cannabis high has driven me mad. It takes me quite some time to recover back to my normal self, the effects of the weed linger on in my brain for ages. With other drugs I'm right back to my old self, after maybe a little hangover, or my old self with a renewed spirit if it's psychs we're talking about. But with weed - like I haven't smoked in a few days, and I still feel the effects of this shit, slowly but surely fading away. It doubtless makes me dumber.

When I have managed to take month long breaks, mentally, emotionally, I am 1000% better. When I stay high for a while, and my bag runs out, I get a worse down than I ever get from any other drug.

I ask myself again and again - why the fuck do I smoke this stuff. I have been "quitting" for 2 years...

In moderation, like once a week, the effects are different. The high is epic. Like I said I find this drug to be the most addictive of all drugs I have tried, and moderating it is basically impossible in practice, so I always end up fiending with horrible side effects.

Weed is the only fucking drug that most people will stop using in their early 20's. or teens.

It is almost inevitable that it effects the GABA, dopamine, amygdala, and seretonin receptors in more profound ways than almost any other drug out there.

I am in college and have lived in California all my life and have met many drug users, partying frat types, stoners, trippers etc.

My conclusion is that weed fucks you up the most in the long term. Virtually like 8/10 people I meet dont smoke weed anymore because it caused them anxiety, depression, panic attacks etc. Yet many of them still drink, snort coke at parties, but cant touch the dro anymore.

For me it personally ruined my life, the anxiety I get from smoking Cali medicinal dro absolutely eats me away the following days of a smoke session.

Also the above poster is right, it stays with you the longest. With MDMA, LSD, shrooms, a bad trip is a "bad trip" thats IT. For the most part, you only trip when you are high and all effects eventually subside within a few days at most. With weed, that shit stays with you for months after quitting (this includes all symptoms such as derealization, panic disorder, anxiety, depression, shyness etc.)

It is one of the most insidious drugs in the world and is FAR from harmless. I would absolutely use LSD, Shrooms, everyday rather than smoking pot everyday. Even Seth Mcfarlane, the creator of Family Guy, a show I used to love when I was high, admitted he could not smoke weed anymore because the paranoia became unbearable. You never hear this from alcoholics or people who trip.

When I'm baked I'm just sooo uncomfortable sometimes, depending on set/setting. But the high isn't the problem - there are tons of reasons to smoke pot even if it makes us a little paranoid. It's really fun and I normally have a great time. I pretty much consider it a religious sacrament as well. The problem is I am super addicted now.

I still love weed, it really does have benefits if you moderate it. If someone hasn't been a huge stoner at some point in their life, then I don't vibe with them as well. I love what weed has done for me, I just hate who I become when I'm in the depths of smoking it all day. And also, I think that if you abuse the hell out of other drugs - alcohol for instance - the side effects can be more long term than with weed. But no matter how much weed I smoke, I'm usually feeling amazing and back to my good old self after a week break.

I'm not as anti-weed as I sound. I've just been smoking too much pot lately (and I'm all out) and I'm in a frustrating position in life. I guess I didn't need to write all that stuff - my recommendation is "do not stay stoned your entire life because it will most likely catch up with you after a while. You won't get high anymore, it will burn out your mind, and you will need it to keep yourself from freaking out for a few days."

I'm kind of bipolar on this topic though. I love weed and also hate it. A testament to how much it has fucked me up I guess - I have never been so split on an issue in my life. Should I stay high forever? I could. Should I? I have no fucking clue. Deep down I know I should totally quit forever and that after a few months of suffering I would be free of this vice.

Man, ill just say this; Weed is my savior drug..

It keeps me off all the hard stuff, and keeps me from going insane..Keeps me anxiety free 99.5% of the time.

You are just full of shit if you think taking acid, meth, opiates, or whatever every day is safer than weed ESPECIALLY in the long run..

I may be fucking crazy but i was crazy before i met mary jane

Stay high my friends%)

I'm the going to say weed is the worst, I agree though that it has the power to impact some people's life more negatively then any other substance rather people want to accept this or not.

I'm not even talking about everyday use, sporadic use of alcohol never generated the same negative experiences marijuana has nor have opiates or any other drug I've tried for that matter in terms of occasional use and in comparison to marijuana.

And the other hundreds of people with the same experience.

I guess thats just a coincidence?

I hate how people feel the constant need to rationalize those with negative marijuana experiences with other drugs.

Thats doesn't make it any better or worst, in reality.

Just cause marijuana was a bad time, telling them meth and crack(or whatever) would be worst doesn't make it any better.

Wow, this is by far the most far fetched anti-pot thread iv ever seen! You really have an agenda, unfortunatly many of the claims your making are completely false and have no support.

I seriously do not know how in the hell this drug got the "harmless" label put onto it by society when it creates some extremely scary side effects that even meth or heroin users will never experience.
Really, cause the side effects you have listed here are all VERY common in people who abuse stimulants. Im pretty sure EVERY meth user has experienced anxiety, panic attacks, depression and psychosis. Oh and those are the less dangerous side effects too. Perhaps maybe you should do some research on it too.

I mean how the hell does Marijuana get away with having the label as "just a plant"
I have never called it "just a plant", Cannabis is a drug like any other drug and deserves just as much respect. If it were "just a plant" It wouldnt be illegal and regulated. The only people who call it just a plant are people who do not respect it.

It seriously has created in me and lots of people I know/read about a spiral of crazy unwanted effects like the ones mentioned above.

I was a heavy alcohol user for some time and other than irritability it never did this to me and I never had any problems drinking.

Well im glad drinking never gave YOU those problems, but it causes a whole slew of other side effects in people. I have never been able to handle drinking, iv never liked it. It gives me terrible hang overs, and almost always makes me sick! Not to mention the amount of damage cause by people who drink and drive, or drink in access and beat their families. Real Harmless.

Starting to think the most "harmless" drug in the world is honestly the most harmful to your brain.

Sure, it maybe non toxic to your body but the effects it has on the brain are bar none unmatched by ANY OTHER DRUG.
I mean really....where are you getting this? Do you know what meth does to your brain? Or maybe Ecstasy? Its also pretty common knowledge the long term use of LSD can prfoundly change your personality(read about it here). If your gonna come up in here making outragous claims like this you better have some legit published documents to back you up.

I quit smoking recently and I only think to myself, why the hell do people smoke this shit when they know that eventually it will either:

a.) make them depressed.

b.) make them anxious/paranoid/ and/or develop a panic disorder

I have been smoking pot since 13, im now 28. I have never experienced any of these side effects, how ever i experiences them all after only a week on MDPV.

I am ALL for any drug, mushrooms, LSD, alcohol, cigarettes, even cocaine etc for one to enjoy their youth, but Marijuana and its side effects scare the living shit out of me.

Im sorry you have had a bad experience, and yes there are plenty of people who try pot and it makes them have anxiety and paranoia, but those are your PERSONAL experiences. Every person is different, and drugs effect everyone in different ways.

On the other hand there are the people like me and MANY MANY other people who have never had paranioa or anxiety and who use pot to actually relieve symptoms of depression. It also helps me with chronic stomach issues, and calms me down. But all of this changes from person to person, everyone reacts differently. But your agenda clouds your research, and chances are you spend your time focusing on looking for negative experiences. Maybe you should spend some time looking up the proven benefits of this plant, i bet you might find something!
